Bradley scores at 14:18 to take a 1-0 lead! Goal by Jack Lang, his first of the season. His shot went off a Loyola defender's hand and into the net.


Edit; the final stats now shows that the Bradley goal which was previously credited to Jack Lang, is now posted as an "own goal" by Loyola. The shot by Jack Lang did deflect off the Loyola defender's hand, but appeared to be headed for the open left side of the goal, and IMO would have been a goal even if it did not hit the Loyola player's hand.

Loyola was given a penalty kick and scored to tie the game 1-1.

Loyola scored a 2nd half goal and won 2-1. Bradley's season ends.

Huge upset in the championship game of the MVC Men's Soccer Tournament. Missouri State was undefeated on the season at 17-0-0, and they finished the MVC season 10-0-0. They were ranked #9 nationally in last week's United Soccer Coaches NCAA Division-I poll. They beat Loyola twice during the conference season, and played the host Loyola again in the Championship game today.
But the match ended 1-1, and Loyola wins in a shootout 5-4-

Here is some bad news for MVC men's soccer.... Valparaiso, one of only 6 MVC schools that still had men's soccer, has announced they will disband and discontinue their men's soccer program.

This is a financial decision, though soccer is not among the most expensive sports, so I wonder if they will be making more cuts. Valpo sponsored 21 D1 sports, more than any other D1 school.

But Valpo is on the cutting edge by adding an officialy sponsored E-sports program!-

This leaves the MVC with only 5 schools that play men's soccer- Bradley, Drake, Evansville, Loyola, and Missouri State. They will need to make some changes before next season, probably going back to adding one or more "associate MVC members" like they have had in the past.
