I played for St. Joseph. Oh, you mean the University in Philadelphia. I played for the grade school in Peoria.
What part of illegal don't you understand?

My dad played point guard for St. Cecilia's then for Central. That'd be quite the feat though, since I think the former's been closed for 30 years.

I played close to 70 years ago, in the late 40’s.

My dad was born in '48, so that would've been about '62. After Vietnam he played baseball for Bradley and led them in hitting in '72.

St Cecilia's was my team's(St Bernards) arch rival in 7th & 8th grade...sounds like it was a couple years after your father played

St Bernard's won the 7th grade tourney-albeit I think St Cecilia's won the regular season matchup
8th grade -St Cecilia's won the Diosesian tourney- St Bernards finished 3rd (we were beaten in the semis by a team led by Doug Pomatto-later Bradley player)

This was 1964-65 & 1965-66.....Willie Densburger- was the BB coach at St Cecilia's (former Bradley football player-after being All State at Spalding)

St Cecilia's best player was Ken Wolbeck(already over 6'0 in grade school)-who played on Spalding teams that finished 2nd & 4th in the Ill. State Tournaments
Wolbeck went to Notre Dame-though Joe Stowell tried hard to recruit him to Bradley....Wolbeck played on a very good ND Frosh team that Bradley's undefeated Frosh team beat badly

Our best player at St Bernard's was Rich Lavin..who also played on those Spalding BB State Tourney teams & was later selected in an NFL draft..and still later was on Bradley's board & had a son who played on the Braves NCAA Sweet 16 team in the early 2000s...

fyi-we had two kids over 6'0 on our 8th grade team at St Bernard's too-to double team Wolbeck
