Ex-Peoria Manual star and the 1991 Illinois Mr. Basketball Howard Nathan passed away this morning. He was only 47 years old.

I saw Howard Nathan play a lot and he was a phenomenal player in high school. He never had much success at the college level because of a variety of issues, one of which was academics. He did make it to the NBA and played briefly with the Atlanta Hawks.

Howard is one of only 4 people who were born and raised in Peoria to ever make it to the NBA.
The others are Frank Williams, Shaun Livingston, and A.J. Guyton.
Peoria Manual and Bradley star Al Smith played 5 years in the old ABA.

I was fortunate enough to officiated many of Howard's games during his 4 year career. Howard was in my opinion the best HS player to come out of Peoria during my career. RIP Howard.
