  • Reggie Miller to Return to NBA with Celtics?

Reggie Miller says he is contemplating a return to the NBA, this time with the Boston Celtics.

Smart-add more guys that haven't won anything. Where is C Webb in all this? He belongs there. Maybe T-mac and Yao.

Boston is going to suck. They may make the playoffs in the East, but no way are they going to contend for a championship. Too many scorers in the NBA doesn't work.

Anyone that watched Reggie Miller play consistently knows he's one of the best shooters to ever live. He is a smart, clutch player with excellent leadership abilities and, more importantly for Boston, perspective. He's been to the finals, he's been in the tough playoff games - he's taken and made the big shots.

His addition is nothing but valuable.
Agreed he was one of the most clutch shooters to ever play NBA basketball. Is he though still able, in even only 15 minutes a night, play defense and not get exploted and move hard enough off of screens to get his open shots? Best case seniero, I believe, is if he is as only a spot up shooter at the end of quarters. His time as a productive option nightly has ended.

I also agree with Triman, a three headed scoring monster in todays NBA with egos, contracts, agents etc will not work when it comes to playoff success. I do not believe a point guard is essential but players willing to take on rolls, rebound, play defense, are what will win teams championships. Ill take the Bulls and their team concept in 7 games versus the Celts.

He's just too old now... And he's been out for 2 full seasons. How much is a 42 year old guard going to contribute in the NBA? Sure he WAS a good leader and shooter, and he WAS in good shape. I just can't see him being a Steve Kerr with the Spurs type player at best. That was a perfect situation for Kerr. The Celtics don't look to have that situation for Miller. The Spurs would be a better destination, but I don't think they would give up a roster spot for him. He retired for a reason and should stay retired. He's a good analyst, and I hope his career as a player is closed for good.
