Javon Freeman returning to Valparaiso

All Freshman team member Javon Freeman had announced he was leaving Valparaiso 6 weeks ago. He was rumored to be transferring to Northwestern.
But then today, suddenly and unexpectedly, he tweeted that he was returning to Valpo.

Good for him. I am sure he got some humbling evaluations from some coaches, but I think his best spot is in the Valley where he could be very good.

Freeman was reportedly optimistic about heading to Northwestern - then everyone there left to transfer somewhere else...so maybe he didn't want to play on a team that had nobody. But then, that's kind of how Valpo's looking for next year...

I agree. It is a huge boost to Valpo, who lost so many players their fans were really discouraged about next season. They still lost a lot of guys, but this will make them a better team. Maybe it could encourage others who announced they were leaving but haven't landed anywhere yet like Bakari Evelyn, Marcus Golder, or Jaume Sorolla to reconsider.

Why did they announce they were leaving in the first place?

I am not sure they all gave specific reasons. Jaume Sorolla apparently wanted to leave to play pro in Europe (he is from Spain). Golder, Evelyn, and Freeman were just looking for a change or to look for better options.
