Class of 2008 BU recruit Anthony Campbell commits to APSU

Anthony Campbell is a 6'6", 180 lb. shooting guard from Edwardsville, IL.
He received recruiting interest from Bradley, but he committed to Austin Peay yesterday while on an unofficial visit there. He averaged only 6 points and 6 rebounds last year, but has the reputation as a very good shooter and passer. His numbers will improve for 2007-2008, as he will be the main guy for Edwardsville this year. He also played AAU ball with the St. Louis Majestics.

In this article, he says he picked Austin Peay over Bradley, Illinois State, Portland, and Denver, as well as 2 schools he had offers from, Lafayette and Truman (Mo.) State.--

just ran across this old thread, and wanted to give a followup on Campbell a year later..

Austin Peay ended their season in Peoria as BU beat them March 18...
Freshman Anthony Campbell had a good game and in 29 minutes was 5-8, 11 pts, 4 rebs, 3 asst, no TO.

On the season for the 19-14 APSU Governors, Campbell averaged...
21 mpg, 50% and 37.6% 3-pt shooting, 8 ppg/3 rpg..
all of which is not bad for a freshman, and he should turn out to be a very good player.
APSU could end up playing 3 or more games vs. Valley teams this year.
They have scheduled games vs. Drake & Evansville, but also are in the Glenn Wilkes Classic and could face Drake there, and could also get a Valley team in BracketBuster or post-season.
