Drake lands another portal transfer - Carlos Rosario- a 6'7", 180 lb forward from Washington State committed to Drake last night over offers from Oral Roberts and Toledo. He was a highly touted 2020 recruit from the Dominican Republic, and is a graduate of Veritas Prep School. He played in only 7 games his freshman season (2020-21) due to a shoulder injury, averaging 0.3 ppg and 0.6 rpg in those 7 games. Then he missed his entire sophomore season (2021-22) due to more shouder issues, and redshirted. In 2022-23, he played in 22 games, and averaged 10 minutes per game, and averaged 2.2 ppg and 1.5 rpg. He shot 42.5% overall, 31.3% from three, and 52.6% on free throws.
He would potentially have 3 years of eligibility left, including the extra Covid year.

SIU gets a late commitment for 2023 from the transfer portal-
Jovan Stulic- a 6'6" guard, originally from Serbia, who graduated from high school in Naples, Florida. He spent 4 years playing for Little Rock (2019-2023).
As a part-time starter, he averaged 5.5 ppg his freshman year, 1.8 ppg his sophomore year, 7.8 ppg his junior year, and just 0.5 ppg his senior year.
He played in 4 games this past season, then suffered a foot injury and missed the rest of the season. So if he is granted a redshirt for this past season, he could have 2 years of eligibility left.

Cooper Schwieger is one of 8 new recruits for Powell, who says he is similar to Gonzaga consensus 3-time All American big man Drew Timme, and former Valpo All American Alec Peters.
Powell is very familiar with them since he coached Timme as an assistant coach at Gonzaga, and he recruited and coached Peters as an assistant at Valparaiso under Bryce Drew. (2011-16) Valpo assistant coach Matt Gordon, who coached Cameron Krutwig at Loyola, and spent a couple years on Porter Moser's staff at Oklahoma, has said Schwieger resembles Krutwig.
Those are lofty comparisons. Schwieger did not have any college offers out of high school in 2022, and after finishing a prep year at Link Year Prep, the national champion prep school program, it is reported that the Valparaiso offer is "Schwieger's first and only Division I offer" when he committed last week.
Belmont’s Ben Sheppard is taken 26th in the Draft.
Ben Sheppard was the only player in the NBA Draft with a direct connection to the Missouri Valley Conference. He was taken by the Indiana Pacers 26th overall. Looks like he made a good decision to stay in the draft. As a 1st round pick, he will get a guaranteed 3 year contract.
The #1 overall pick to the San Antonio Spurs was French pro Victor Wembanyama, a 7'4" player with incredible skill. We first posted about him 2 years ago, when we saw videos of him playing on the same club team in France as former Bradley player Max Ekono-
And the Chicago Bulls, who did not have any picks going into this year's draft, made a trade with the Washington Wizards to move into the early 2nd round and draft Julian Phillips, a 6'7" athletic freshman forward from Tennessee at the Shang Ping spot. He posted the best vertical leap at the NBA Combine at 43 inches, and has a 7-foot wingspan. Phillips was a 5-star recruit out of Columbia, SC who averaged 8.3 ppg and 4.7 rpg in his freshman season at Tennessee.

Valparaiso gets another late 2023 commitment- Sherman Weatherspoon IV, a 6'3" point guard. He is originally from Maryland, and played this past year at Golden State Prep in Northern California. He also had an offer from Western Illinois. He is Valpo's 9th commitment for 2023.
some more on Valpo's latest commit Sherman Weatherspoon IV..... he could turn out to be a diamond in the rough...
He was injured his junior year in high school at highly ranked DeMatha and never played, then transferred and had a good "bounce back" season at Chevy Chase HS in Bethesda MD. Then he went to a fairly obscure prep school, Golden State Prep in Napa Valley and averaged 25 ppg, 8 rpg, 4 apg, but was not heavily recruited because he had played so little the previous two seasons.
Powell found him thru his west coast connections while at Gonzaga.
Northern Iowa gets a 2024 commitment from Redek Born, a 6'3" guard from Norwalk, Iowa. He is the younger brother of current UNI senior-to-be Bowen Born. https://twitter.com/redekborn/status...23975741095936
As a junior, he averaged 18.6 ppg, 5.5 rpg, and 4.9 apg.
He's about 4 inches taller, shoots about 40% from 3, and is considered a top 5 player in Iowa going into his senior season.
The True Gentleman is the man whose conduct proceeds from good will and an acute sense of propriety, and whose self-control is equal to all emergencies... - John Walter Wayland
Valparaiso gets another commitment for 2023- Lucas Scroggins, a 6'8" forward at Don Bosco Prep in Crown Point, Indiana. His only other offer was from Central Michigan. https://www.valpoathletics.com/mbask...tball-program/
