One more Voice of the Braves postseason coaches show
One more Voice of the Braves postseason coaches show
There will be a special postseason Voice of the Braves show on Thursday, April 25 at The Bullpen Bar & Grill at Landmark.
It will also be broadcast on WMBD radio.-
Postseason Voice of the Braves
Coaches Radio Show
Celebrate the 2019 NCAA Tournament Appearance at the final Voice of the Braves Show of the season!
Hear what Coach Wardle, Dave Snell, and other members of the program have to say about the NCAA Tournament!
In the first half hour of tonight's Voice of the Braves show...
-a little talk about the seasons, the ups & downs then the fun & the memories of the MVC Championship and the NCAA game in Des Moines
-Coach Wardle talked about the players departing, wishes them well, understands why they want to leave...
-talked alittle about the explosion of transfers at every level and why it is happening
-Both Coach Wardle & Dave Snell took time to remark on and express appreciation for the tremendous fan support throughout the year- especially in Des Moines
-assures the fans that he is still vigorously recruiting
-Dave Snell talked with Luqman Lundy, Luuk van Bree & DLO - and all will be looking for opportunities to play pro ball...
2nd half hour - talked with the assistant coaches - discussed a lot of things that go on behind the scenes, getting the players ready, working on FTs, etc..
..the fans will be able to ask questions of the coaches & players AFTER the show goes off the air at 7pm
Coach gave a great run down on all the new incoming players...
..pretty confident that Danya Kingsby will get a waiver to play this coming year..
..Ville will not be here this summer - he will play with his National team
...Antonio Thomas is a very hard worker, a winner
..described Rienk Mast but...
.......did not mention JaMir Price
Q&A
- question about Porter Moser turning down offer from St. John's - good for the Valley...
- Izzo told Brian Wardle that Bradley is one of the toughest teams they had played all year and we should be proud,
- talked about Tom Izzo - likes his coaching style.......
....the rest of the questions are not going to be broadcast.. but if anything relevant gets discussed - lyk - btw- great crowd
Will Mast be here this summer? I am interested in hearing how Mast was described. BU could use another body for the front court. However, it usually takes time for European players to adapt to the American college game. I know many here are interested in scoring wings.
I don't think either Ville or Rienk will be here until at least the end of July - so neither would be able to pick up credits for summer course work.
But if they get here by early August, then they'd have almost 4 months to get ready for the basketball season.
One other thing Coach Wardle did say about Rienk Mast was that he, like Antonio, has played strong enough competition and has had enough
top caliber exposure that they will be ready as freshmen to play at the college level and contribute. He also mentioned both Ville & Rienk's ability
to create shots and score both inside & outside. As I noted, he did not mention Price but Thomas, Gabriel & Kingsby should be here for the first summer session.
Summer Session I - Monday June 10 - Friday July 11
Summer Session II - Monday July 15 - Friday August 16
The PJS has this statement: "Six Braves return next season, to be joined by five signed newcomers"
...but they don't mention we have SIX signed recruits - Tahvanainen, Mast, Thomas, Gabriel, Kingsby and PRICE...
...so wonder why they don't mention JaMir Price - https://bradleybraves.com/news/2018/...asketball.aspx
I think one other conclusion that can be drawn from all of what was said & discussed at the Voice of the Braves...
helps explain why there was no elaborate banquet and some of what's going on in Bradley Athletics.....
It is one of the busiest times of the year - far busier than gets reported or than most fans ever see.
Obviously Bradley doesn't have a big football program to generate revenue and we don't get money from the state and taxpayer
pockets like a lot of schools do - so Bradley has to make the best decisions with that in mind. Plus the staff currently has ongoing
player workouts, vigorous recruiting & hosting of visits, plus there's lots of things that go on behind the scenes like
the legwork & paperwork to get the kids signed, get their backgrounds through our own Compliance people and do all the work
required by NCAA to submit this stuff and get the kids cleared.... And our staff didn't get a jump on all that back on March 8th or 9th
like most of the rest of the MVC did...
Our staff had a few other things the keep them occupied for an additional 2-3 weeks thru the end of March. So our guys had to work double hard to catch up on contacting recruits, evaluating & offering, setting up visits, etc...
Remember how many times we have seen all that kind of stuff fail because of bad judgement or failure to fully work thru the process?
- like with Kendahl Amerson under Geno and guys like Deontae Hawkins, Mikyle McIntosh, Zach Copeland, Abdul Ndiaye, etc at ISU...(and that costs a scholarship even if the kid fails to qualify since that scholarship generally can't go to anyone else at that late stage).
And there's even more stuff the staff has to do - like helping those who want to transfer out find an acceptable place & helping to steer our grads towards their life's and career's goals.
So I am happy that our staff is working so hard and tirelessly to build our program, and I'm satisfied if our event at Bullpen Bar & Grill
happened to be a little less elaborate than some other programs.
today starts one of the busiest if not THE busiest 3-4 day stretch of recruiting - as coaches' ability to watch the kids
in off-season play (AAU) has been compressed into just a few short weekends and this is one of them - our coaches will likely
hit several events...

Do any AAU teams play locally? Are there any links to watch AAU teams that have potential 2019 Bradley recruits?
there used to be lots of AAU events and almost every weekend in every big city
..but recent rule changes now limit NCAA Division I coaches to just certain events that are NCAA Certified and only on certain weekends
Here is the list of such events this weekend...plus there are also some junior college exposure events
