Evansville played the London Lions today in the first game of their summer tour to London, Belgium, and Paris (July 30-Aug. 9).
They had huge 2nd half lead, but the London team scored 17 straight points in the 4th quarter to come back to make it very close. Evansville holds on for the 84-82 win over the Lions. Their next game will be Monday in Antwerp, Belgium against a team named Gembo Borgerhout. Their 3rd and final game will be on Wednesday night against Parisian Select.
6'9" Freshman DeAndre Williams was the leading scorer with 24 points. Another freshman, 6'2" guard Marcus Henderson, added 9 points. Sophomore guard Jawaun Newton and junior guard Noah Frederking each had 8 points, and redshirt junior transfer from Coastal Carolina, Artur Labinowicz and Arizona State transfer Sam Cunliffe each had 7 points.

Northern Iowa is in Italy, and played their first game of their 10 day trip today (Aug. 1-10). Today's game was against a team in Northern Italy.
I cannot find any results yet. Their next game is in nearby Vicenza, Italy on Sunday, Aug. 4. They'll play a 3rd game Wednesday, Aug. 7, in Rome.

Some news regarding one of UNI's 2019 recruits- Freshman Cole Henry, who was thought to be the most ready freshman to play and contribute this season among their recruits, had a serious knee injury during workouts this past spring, and will not be ready to play this season. He will redshirt for the 2019-20 season. He is travelling with the UNI team in Europe, but will not play.

Drake shot poorly from the longer international 3-point line, which will be used in the NCAA this season. They were just 4-21 (19%), and the only 2 players who made three pointers were 7-foot center Liam Robbins (1-2) and lightly recruited junior college guard Jonah Jackson (3-4).
Tremell Murphy, who started every game for Drake last year, did not play as he continues to recover from a knee injury he suffered last season.
Brady Ernst, a grad-transfer from Florida Gulf Coast also didn't play due to a knee injury. He had surgery on his knee in mid-July and is not expect to see action for another month or more.

The Ottawa Gee-Gees were 15-8 last year in the U Sports (the Canadian equivalent of the NCAA, it was formerly called the CIS), and they return the bulk of their team this season. Drake will play a team called Costa Rica Select on Monday night, then they'll play the University of Ottawa again Tuesday night.

There are 2 games scheduled for today (Mon. Aug. 5) involving MVC teams-

Evansville plays Gembo Borgerhout in Antwerp, Belgium at 1 pm Central time (8 pm Belgium time). Gembo Borgerhout is a team that plays in the 2nd tier pro league in Belgium. Their 2018-19 league games ended April 16 when they were eliminated in the first round of the league playoffs, and their 2019-20 season doesn't start for another couple months. Usually when these European pro teams play summer games against touring US college teams, some of their pros won't be available to play since this is their off-season. That was the case with the 2 teams Bradley played against last summer in London and Amsterdam. So the team that plays Evansville today could be of a mix of some of their regular players, some youth team amateur players, and maybe other add-ons.

Drake plays at 9 pm Central tonight against a team named Costa Rica Select in San Jose, Costa Rica. There is no information available yet about this Costa Rica Select team. Costa Rica does have a low-level 6-team league, but the league ended June 22 and this is their off-season. The team Drake plays today will probably be a mix of available players from the San Jose area.

Illinois is on a 4-game summer tour of Italy, and they won their first game today against a team called CUS Insubria 118-56.

This must have been total domination. Illinois was 50-83 shooting, and they had 60 rebounds, 27 of them offensive.
They only missed 33 shot attempts, and had 27 offensive rebounds! That equates to scoring almost every possession.
