Kurt Pegler piece on Dave Snell

I vividly remember my first meeting with Dave Snell.. I was with the late,Great Mort Cantor at a game in the old fieldhouse and Mort wanted to introduce me to someone who he felt was very unique. We went under the stands and there was this small, young kid in glasses who responded to the introduction with a perfect Joe Stowel voice. He said he wanted to build a career in sports broadcasting with emphasis on basketball. He said he was a super Bradley fan and in truth, I could not discern any difference at all in his imitation and the real voice of Coach Stowel. I believe Mort took the young guy under his wing and the rest is history. Dave clearly is the top basketball broadcaster in America. He has had numerous opportunities to move up the broadcast ladder into the NBA, Etc but his heart was clearly with Bradley so he remained in Peoria. Dave is a wonderful person and I treasure my friendship with him.

Nothing is as endearing as loyalty, and Dave Snell is as real as they come. No pretentiousness about that guy at all, and we are all lucky to have him. He's as much a part of Bradley basketball as anyone, and it's nice knowing that he's going to be around for a lot longer.Larry Bird
I've got a theory that if you give 100 percent all of the time, somehow things will work out in the end.
