Will Ari Boya play for an AAU team this summer?

  • #2
No. I do not believe any D1 college coaches allow their players to play summer ball with AAU programs. I am not sure that any AAU tournaments allow players to compete after they have enrolled in college.

But he probably will remain on campus for the summer semesters and be working out with the players and team.

Never heard of a D1 player going back to AAU before, seems to me even if it was legal that a lot of bad habits come from the summer leagues and might be considered a major step backwards.

Question: do they still offer the "big man camps" over the summer? It would be an advantage for both Barr and Boya going head to head will the bigs to get better fast!

It is very possible that Ari might be active this summer but of course NCAA doesn't allow them to play on AAU -
They would be allowed to go to summer camps and there are NCAA-approved touring amateur teams like
the AIA that Nate Wells participated with..

The FIBA U20 Championships are up for grabs - and both Netherlands & Finland are competing -
so we may see Ville & Rienk playing internationally this summer but I don't see where Cameroon or South Sudan have any competition coming up but maybe that will be announced later.

          Netherlands plays Georgia on July 12, 2019 - http://www.fiba.basketball/europe/u2...am/Netherlands
          Finland plays Albania on July 12, 2019 - http://www.fiba.basketball/europe/u2...9/team/Finland
or they might choose to come and enroll for summer session...

There used to be a lot of "Big Man" camps but I think there were changes in NCAA rules that now prohibit schools from paying for any of their enrolled student-athletes to attend such camps and get coaching from coaches outside their own program. Now the only ones I can find are for high school and non-D1 kids.

I think we will miss Luuk getting rebounds in the paint and a little help for Child's would be really nice!
