Most successful coaches can get a couple years extension on their contracts. But the University of Washington must be very pleased with the job Lorenzo Romar is doing. They just signed him through 2016 at well over $1 million a year.

Romar has been at Washington for 5 years, and is a good coach. He has Washington back on the map as a basketball power, although he had a down year in 2006-2007. His staff did get hit with NCAA sanctions once in that 5 year span, just barely missing being found guilty of
    "lack of institutional control".

In the end, the NCAA sanctions were NOT severe, and instead were pretty light- basically the loss of only one scholarship, and not one single player or coach missed a single game or practice.

    Here is Romar's record.........
    2002-2003 10-17, 5-13 in Pac-10, DNQ for Tournament
    2003-2004 19-12, 12-6 in Pac-10, ,2-1 in Pac-10 Tournament
    2004-2005 29-6, 14-4 in Pac-10, 3-0 in Pac-10 Tournament
    2005-2006 26-7, 13-5 in Pac-10, 0-1 in Pac-10 Tournament
    2006-2007 19-13, 8-10 in Pac-10, 1-1 in Pac-10 Tournament

    Overall at Washington, 104-55, 52-38 in Pac-10, 6-3 in Pac-10 Tourney
