I am still seeing a room at the Embassy Suites for $236 per night. That is the rate for Hilton Honors Club members. It is $240 for non-members and there are about $45 in taxes added on. I am not sure why molar50 gets a higher price.

Even the booking websites like Kayak.com, Booking.com, Priceline.com, Orbitz.com, etc. all show a similar lower price.

Embassy is the ISU team hotel and those are probably canceled reservations by dejected ISU fans.

So you are saying they don't expect to stay beyond Thursday?

But the MVC website says the Hyatt is ISU's hotel-

Hyatt, yes, that’s the one. $232 there now for Hyatt rewards members, if you can stand the ISU stench.

Even at around $240 per night, the Embassy Suites is one of the most expensive hotels in St. Louis for Friday night-

The Embassy Suites keep dropping their price. I have seen this happen every year that Bradley has been assigned there and at their previous hotel, the Marriott Renaissance Grand. A standard room is now $200, and even less if you are a Hilton Honors member.

Interesting fact... Since the MVC expanded to include all 10 teams in the tournament in 1997, only 1 team that advanced past the play-in round has won the 2nd day. That team was the 1998 Bradley Braves. The winners of the play-in games these last 22 years are a combined 1-43 in subsequent games! But with the unprecedented parity in this year's MVC, I think it could happen again this year.

Also, I have never subscribed to the idea that it is hard to beat a team a 3rd time in the same season. I have always believed that in most cases, there is a pretty good reason why one team beats another both home and away. It is usually because one team is significantly better than the other. And the numbers seem to back that up. In the history of the MVC Tournament, when one team has gone 2-0 against another team during the season and then they are matched up again in the tournament, the team that already won twice is 137-52 the third time they meet in the MVC Tournament. So it is not really that hard to win the 3rd time.

I think the premise is that IF two teams are pretty evenly matched - then it is hard for one of them to beat the other 3 times
I think if you were to look only at cases where the two teams were not separated by multiple games in the standings - then it would hold up

REGARDING THE ARCH MADNESS REFEREEING !!!!!

If I see any referring favoritism during any of the Arch Madness games - AND ESPECIALLY AIDING LOYOLA during their games - The Mo Valley Conference headquarters is going to receive a rather scathing letter from me. The Bradley at Drake game was an obvious example of the referees playing to the home crowd. I'll bet money that the heads of the Missouri Valley conference would love to see Loyola back in this years NCAA tournament. And these same heads also likely know that the NCAA would love to see Loyola back in the tournament as well. Just image the media and advertisements leading up to selection Sunday if Loyola wins the MVC Arch Madness a week before the NCAA selection Sunday.... The NCAA can run media and all sorts of things showing Sister Jean and playing back last years Cinderella Story for a whole week and likely more. Time to move on from last years Loyola Cinderella Story and some other Valley team (how about Bradley) beat Loyola - The referees must be fair and honest for all games - especially the Loyola games - period. Thank you.

                      OK- I'm gonna vent...

I'm watching a huge upset in the BIG EAST and the announcers endlessly claim....
"this is such a tough league from top to bottom....this is hardly an upset .... wow, this league is so strong..."

Then I'm watching a huge upset in the Big Ten and the announcers endlessly claim....
:this is such a tough league from top to bottom ... such parity in this league ... they deserve 7, 8, maybe 9 bids..."

but then I recall watching some MVC upsets and also recall comments like ....
"the league is down this year ... there's no clear favorite ... the league is not tough this year...they are a 1-bid league..."

kinda got me laughing...hypocrisy...especially when an MVC makes a run to the Sweet Sixteen and beyond almost every single year!
