Valpo tried to give the game to SIU as they didn't score a point in the last 2:07 of the game. They led 55-46 and SIU kept chipping away, getting some offensive rebounds off missed FT's to get it to 55-52. Valpo had 2 very deliberate offensive possessions that produced nothing and it gave SIU a chance. They missed a 3, got another offensive rebound and missed another 3 and Valpo got fouled with 2.4 left. A missed FT gave SIU one more chance but after a timeout they threw the ball away. Derrik Smits led Valpo with 11 and Deon Lavender had 10, including the last 6 of the game for Valpo. Armon Fletcher had 18 and Marcus Bartley had 10 for SIU. They were 11-18 from the field, the rest of the team was 8-31.

In the soap opera known as How the Valley Turns things just keep spinning around and around. Loyola has the tiebreaker over Drake but they have a harder schedule. They go to SIU and UNI and host BU while Drake goes to ISU Red, is home to ISU Blue and finishes at Missouri State. Missouri State hosts ISU Blue, go to ISU Red and finish at home with Drake. UNI is home to Valpo and Loyola and finish at ISU Blue. SIU hosts Loyola, is at Evansville and finish at home against ISU Red. Valpo goes to UNI and us and finishes at home against Evansville. If their is a three way or more tie for position then the rankings will be decided by a mini round robin. We just need to take care of Valpo and Evansville and depending what we do against Loyola we should finish 5th or 6th. The fun continues this weekend.

As best as I can tell, here is the current standings, including ranked by tiebreakers with 3 games remaining for all teams.
The final determination will be made after all games are completed.The current standings posted on the front page of the MVC Men's Basketball web page show a different order.Drake 10-5 - 21-7 Loyola-Chicago 10-5 - 17-11 Missouri State 9-6 1 15-13 Northern Iowa 8-7 2 13-15 Valparaiso 7-8 3 14-14 Bradley 7-8 3 15-13 Illinois State 7-8 3 14-14 Southern Illinois 7-8 3 14-14 Indiana State 6-9 4 14-13 Evansville 4-11 6 10-18
Their standings are based on which team has the better overall record, and by alphabetical order in the case of identical overall records-
Tiebreakers: Each of the 4 teams tied for 5th place has one more game left with a team they are tied with (BU plays VU, and SIU has a game left with ISU), Valparaiso's record against BU, SIU, and ISU is currently 5-0, so they win the tiebreaker among all 4 teams as of right now. Bradley's record is 3-2, ISU is 1-4 (only win is a 59-58 win at home over SIU), and SIU's record is also 1-4 (only win was at Bradley).
So Bradley finishes 2nd among the 4 teams considering the tiebreaker formula, and ISU 3rd, ahead of SIU by virtue of their head-to-head 1-0 record against SIU. SIU is 4th.
Of course, this will all change after the remaining games are played.
It is interesting to note that the NET, if needed to break any ties at the end of the season currently looks like this for these 4 teams-
SIU 145
Bradley 172
Valpo 178
ISU 190

ISU is so afraid to play defense for fear of picking up fouls - just another manifestation
of their incredibly short bench and lack of depth
This allows Bronson Kessinger to look like Joel Embiid
and Copeland (0-7), Tinsley & Chastain can't guard anyone - Key & Cooper Neese have combined for 14-22 and 36 pts!!
..not to mention the ISU guys are walking and look absolutely gassed....sucking wind
would love to hear the ISU guys' rebuttal again about how deep this team is

MSU was a dreadful 2-18 from 3 and were 7-14 from the FT line.

He got right in the face of the ref and said "F**k you"

when Randy Bennett started coaching at St. Mary's he was 9-20 his first year and 3-11 in conference
and even after six seasons, his overall record was 102-83 but only 45-39 in conference..
but then in the next 11 years he averaged close to 30 wins per year - so there are examples of a guy just needing more time...
But in the end - the people of Indiana State have to decide - just like the people of Bradley finally rose up and decided in 2015, realizing the ignorant & costly mistake some made back in 2011.
