After leading the Bradley men's basketball team to a pair of victories last week,
junior Darrell Brown has collected Missouri Valley Conference Player of the Week
accolades, announced on Monday.
In wins over Northern Iowa and Indiana State, Brown averaged 27.5 points –
shooting 60.6 percent from the field and 73.3 percent from 3-point range (11-of-15).
Brown tallied a game-high 29 points in Wednesday's victory versus the Panthers,
making 11-of-18 shots and 5-of-6 beyond the arc to lead BU to its first win in Cedar Falls
since 2008. He then scored 19 of his 26 points in the first half versus the Sycamores,
leading Bradley to its largest Valley win in 13 years. Brown, who also made 6-of-9 triples
against Indiana State, became the first Brave since 2007-08 to make at least five 3-pointers
in back-to-back games and the first to do so in Valley play since 2002-03.
The junior leads Bradley with 15.1 points and 3.0 assists per game this season. He is also shooting
46.6 percent from 3-point range during his junior campaign – the second-best mark in school history
with at least 50 makes.
The weekly accolade marks the third time that a Bradley player was named Valley Player of the Week
this season, as Brown joins Dwayne Lautier-Ogunleye (Nov. 12) and Elijah Childs (Nov. 26) as Braves
honored in 2018-19. It is the first time that three different Braves have collected the honor in the same
season since 2006-07.
Brown and the Braves – winners of five of their last seven – are back in action on Wednesday as they
look to main their momentum against Loyola. First tip at Carver Arena is set for 7 p.m.
