It would really be something to see DB crash the Top 5 on the All-time scoring list. It could happen...so you best be watchin'!
My prediction is he'll finish #6, ahead of Joe Allen. But I'd love to see Top 5.
Darrell Brown had a very good game overall last night at ISU with 13 points, 2 of 3 from three, 3 rebounds, 3 assists, and only 1 turnover in 38 minutes.
His 13 points boosts his season total to411 points and his career point total to 1,259.
That moves him past Curtis Stucky (1,248 points), Luke Jackson (1,252), and Dyricus Simms-Edwards (1,255) and into the 25th spot on the all time career scoring list.
He is now 2 points behind #24 David Thirdkill (1,261), 3 points behind #23 Bobby Humbles (1,262), 21 points behind #22 Daniel Ruffin (1,280), and 47 points behind #21 Jeremy Crouch (1,306)..
The all time career scoring list is here- scroll down to page 54-
DB is still on pace to move to about #20 by the end of his junior season, and if he continues his current scoring average, he would finish his career at #6 on the list, and possibly as high as #5, Pretty impressive, since the top 6 all have their numbers retired, and the top 4 all had long, successful pro careers.
Wow - three well-known names that DB just passed on the list.
Thanks for updating this Da Coach!
Looking forward to seeing him in the Top 20 before season's end!
Just about everyone on the team "has a shot" but scoring-wise DB, Jr. could get into the Top 5 if he keeps getting 15 or more...
I think it has both objective and subjective components....
everyone whose name is on one of the banners not only scored but helped lead us to post-season glory and national recognition
With 19 points Saturday, Feb. 23 against Evansville, Darrell Brown now has 439 points for this season, and 1,287 for his career. He moves into the 22nd spot on the all-time Bradley scoring list.
List prior to this season:
With another 19, he will join the recent great Jeremy Crouch for #21.
Never heard of the guys listed #17, 19, and 20. Pretty much everyone else from #6 to #21 I've heard of.
Little Brave - look up Bob Carney - he's one of the few retired jerseys Bradley has hanging up in the rafters at Carver Arena...
I know he played a long time ago - but he was a truly great player, still holds one of the all time NCAA records, and was
also a tremendous man and a great asset to our community for six decades beyond his playing career.
He (& his wife) had Bradley season tickets from the 1950's until this day & his wife & son are devoted fans who still come to every single game.
With another 19, he will join the recent great Jeremy Crouch for #21.
Never heard of the guys listed #17, 19, and 20. Pretty much everyone else from #6 to #21 I've heard of.
Keep going strong Mr. Brown!
Ha! You are just too young LittleBrave! Us old timers remember those guys.
#20 Bob Carney's number 33 is hanging on the wall of retired numbers. He was a forward who played from 1950-54 for Forddy Anderson, so he was before my time, too, but he made his home in Peoria after his Bradley career and was a huge supporter of Bradley basketball, and I got to know him. Sadly, he passed away in 2011.
#19 Al Smith was a point guard from Peoria Manual who played for Joe Stowell from 1966-68 and 1970-71 after a stint in the military and went on to a long career in the ABA
#17 Jim Caruthers was a guard from Kansas City, Kansas who played for Joe Stowell from 1972-76. He was a consistent scorer who had a sweet jump shot.
Add: sorry for repeating some of what tornado posted while I was typing my post.
Darrell Brown's total points for the 2018-19 season now stands at 465, and his career total at 1313.
The 1313 career total puts him past Daniel Ruffin and Jeremy Crouch and into 21st place on the all time list.
If he scores a similar number of points next season (465+), he is on target to finish 6th or 5th on the all time list.
I've got little doubt that, barring any injury his senior season, DB will find himself in the top 6 All-time on the Bradley scoring list.
Maybe we get a couple post-season tourney game that might help him toward top 5.
Easily one of the top 5 Braves we've seen in this millenium, and we've seen some real good ones.
I love this thread, but it got me thinking. Will Bradley ever get anyone that could come close to Hersey and JJ? I was too young to comprehend JJ at the time, but I was just old enough to feel Hersey’s greatness. He was unstoppable. Some may disagree, but i think he is a once in a lifetime talent. I don’t think his record will ever be touched.
I agree, Maybe we could see a talent some time in the future who might approach Mitchell Anderson's, Roger Phegley's, or Chet Walker's totals, but I can't see anyone reaching 3,000 points anytime soon.
