  • What would YOU do?

We don't have all the information and experiences of our coaching staff, but in the interest of staying positive and looking for solutions rather than blame, I'd be interested in fans' suggestions for turning this ship around. I'm not talking about big picture things like "recruit better" or replacing the staff, but what's one thing in the here-and-now you would recommend?

My one thing? Start Ja'Shon Henry at center. I'm not saying give up on Koch or Ari, but we are being badly and consistently outmuscled in the paint and getting no offense from our tall-tree 5s. From the little we've seen of Ja'Shon, he is not afraid to bang. He takes the ball to the hoop aggressively. I'd like to see us set a tough, not a soft, tone. I don't care that it's not his natural position and I don't care if he fouls out in the first half. We need Donte Thomas toughness, and Ja'Shon is the closest thing I've seen to it.

OK, so I'm crazy. What's your one thing? WWYD?

I’d try a trapping press to force tempo. I know we don’t have the personnel you’d typically wish for that but we need to generate some transition looks somehow. Also, I’ve always hated this offense, but we might be best suited to run a flex offense. What we’re doing now isn’t any good so why not something from the old guard that worked once. It’s hard to completely change in season but the coaching staff obviously didn’t evaluate their own players well enough in the offseason to install a system that would work.
    Gotta stop feeding the trolls.

Pressing, full court sounds like something to try. We have the depth to do it more.
Running specific plays to isolate players for open jump shots, or breaks to the basket. We don't seem to try many simple pick and rolls, and our guards rarely get to the basket for layups, compared with our opponents.

I agree with more pressing but not our inaffective man to man. We need to run a trapping man to man. the press we currently run hasn't had a turn over yet. Our offense is so boring and way way way to much dribbling. Pick and rolls are nice when you have bigs that can catch the pass on the roll but we sure don't have anyone who can catch and score. They not only have to catch the pass but also be able to finish. Not seen our bigs do anything that resembles that. Ari is better at it than Bar but neither are very good at it yet. We also need to replace any big that has the opportunity to finish with a dunk and lays it up and misses. Their butt would be sitting by me in a second. Just a few items running out of time gotta go.

Full Court hard nosed pressing using the quickness of our players. Bring the ball up the court as fast as possible after opponents made baskets and whenever in transition. Do not slow our offenses. Get as many shots as possible.

Couple of things come to mind.

            1. The offense has to change. I'm not sure Wardle can do anything else, but it is way too predictable when you get into conference play. Much too easy to defend.

            2. Play the younger kids to see what you have for next year. Suffice it to say there is just not a lot of talent in the upperclassmen, although I do like how hard DLO plays.

            3. Hope that your new point guard coming in next year is the answer. I think DB is much better as a 2 guard, but will make your back court very small for next year.

            4. Stop blaming something that happened in 2011 for the mess now. I know that is only a few here, but 8 years to recover is way too long. I know if I were a Bradley fan I would have lost patience a long time ago. I hope it gets better, but two seemingly bad coaching hires in a row can't be blamed on one person.

Oh, and there was absolutely no way there were over 4,000 people at the game last night. Lots of those were dressed up as empty chairs if you ask me.
Cheering with pep and vim for the white and purple!

This would require substantially limiting the minutes of the two centers. Honestly, the staff needs to try something new because what they've been "teaching" and "coaching" simply isn't working. If we're going to lose anyway is it better to lose 91-79 instead of 53-47? We just don't have the talent to compete this year... No PG, no outside shooter, no slashing wings, and the list goes on. Personally, I'd keep Bar and Boya on the bench as much as possible and play slightly uptempo like against Drake using DLO, Brown, LVB, Kennell, Childs, and bring Pitt, Brummett, Hodgson off the bench to spell them. Bar and Boya would only see the court for limited minutes and/or special situations/matchups.

Name a team leader and let them take your message to the team during the game.
