  • **Open Practice Today Season Ticket Holders**

Saw a post on Twitter that season ticket holders can attend an open practice today, Thursday, January 10 at Carver between 2-4pm. The tweet says you can show up any time during the practice block and to enter through the Great Hall lobby.

Very interesting. I got a notification, but can’t attend on short notice. Who here can make the trip and report back to Bradleyfans?

Received this email from the Bradley ticket office this morning:

      Attend Today's Men's Basketball Practice!

Coach Wardle is inviting all Bradley men's basketball season ticket holders and Braves Club members to today's practice.

Practice will start at 2 pm at the Peoria Civic Center and last until approximately 4 pm.

Feel free to come at any point between those times. Enter Carver Arena through the Great Hall entrance. Please refrain from using cameras for pictures or video at this season ticket holder practice opportunity.

GENTS..... I attended todays open practice & here's what I saw. The practice was much quicker than past practices. Drills were very quick and overall, the team speed was impressive. While there was no real scrimmage, they worked on transition offense and fast breaks out of the transition. Our team has good speed and these transition fast breaks were impressive.. Much work on 1/2 court offense using quick passes and player movement. BW stopped 1/2 ct. scrimmage occasionally to correct mistakes. Biggest negative is our continued use of long cross court passes in our 1/2 court offense. These passes are very prone to turnovers and should be stopped. Overall, the practice was impressive although I still would like to see game condition scrimmages as a key part of each practice. Attendance was awful. Only about 20 people. Probably due to late notification of the Open Practice. hope we have more of these.

Thanks Wiz. Did Wardle acknowledge/address the spectators at all?

Why does this feel like damage control in some way? Sounds like a way for them to show everyone "we're still a team, there's no problem, the coach hasn't lose the team"

Many thanks to Coach Wardle for the open practice at the Civic Center. It was very clear to me that Coach Wardle is very motivated and has very high expectations of every player on his team. There were many teaching moments related to what he expected from each position of the ½ court offense options and the transition offense. The coaches and players were all working very hard to improve the execution of the offense.
I was pleased to see how the players supported each other during the drills. Suggestions were given between the players on how to do things better and were well received.
Like Wizard, I was impressed with the team’s speed and the overall practice. Very good effort by the coaches, players and even the managers. If the players execute the offense options and make more of their open shots this will be a fun team to watch!

Even if you’re right (you might be) what’s wrong with the transparency and access? That’s what I’d want to hear from our players and staff: “we are still a team, and we haven’t thrown in the towel.”
