The MVC's leading scorer, Indiana State junior guard Jordan Barnes, was scoreless in their last game at Loyola. He played only 14 minutes reportedly due to illness. His scoring average dropped from over 20 ppg to 19.1 ppg, which still leads the MVC (see MVC stats below). Barnes is shooting 48% from three for the season, second best in the MVC among qualifying players, and he averages 4.3 rpg.
Sophomore guard Tyreke Key ranks 2nd in the MVC in scoring with an average of 17.2 ppg. He is shooting 56.7% from three, easily the best in the MVC among qualifying players. Key was their leading scorer in their game at Loyola with 21 points, and he is the 2nd leading rebounder with 4.7 rpg. Iowa transfer and one-time BU recruit, Christian Williams has played in 5 games since becoming eligible. He is averaging 9 ppg, which ranks 3rd on the team, and his rebounding average of 6.2 rpg is tops on the Sycamores. Nobody else averages more than 6.2 ppg or 3.9 rpg.
As a team, Indiana State shoots 42.5% from three, easily the best among MVC teams. It is the only MVC team statistical category that they rank inside the top 5.

Is anyone going over to Terre Haute this year? The weather should be nice.

Bradley won there last year 81-73 behind a career best 25 point game by Nate Kennell (8-12 from the floor and 7-9 from three). Ryan Stipanovich also had his best game of his short Bradley career with 3-3 shooting from three point range and 9 points in 17 minutes. Bradley outrebounded Indiana State 34-27 in the game, and shot 51% as a team, and 61% from three. Bradley had a season best 42 bench points in the game. It was the first win by Bradley at Indiana State since 2009, and broke an 8-game losing streak there.
Terre Haute, Ind. – Behind a career-best 25 points from sophomore guard Nate Kennell, including seven 3-pointers, the Bradley men's basketball team rallied past Indiana State for an 81-73 road victory. With Sunday's win, the Braves move into a tie for second place in the Missouri Valley Conference standings with a 6-4 league record and 16-7 overall, while the Sycamores drop to 10-12 and an even 5-5 MVC record.

The 2 teams have played 89 times before in the past with Bradley holding a 52-37 record. They are 18-24 in Terre Haute.

Yeah I’ll be there, Da Coach. Weather looks beautiful. Hopefully the basketball is better. We’ll see. I really enjoyed my trip there last year. The win and NK going off helped, though

Indiana State was "humiliated" during their game at Loyola this past Wednesday. Indiana State's game was over at half time. Bradley lost horribly by a lesser experienced UNI team. Ben Jacobson showed all the other MVC teams how to beat Bradley. Keep D Brown and Childs hemmed in, control the tempo. want the rebounds more, shot selection. So for tomorrow this Saturday - WHO WANTS IT MORE. Indiana State or Bradley. We'll see.....

For anyone going to the game, remember there is a 1 hour time difference. It starts at 2:00 PM Eastern Time, 1:00 PM Central.

Sycamores ........ same sh**, different season. Lansing loses their attention & control of them every season for 5 or 6 games ...... only difference this time it is at the beginning of conference play rather than in the middle of MVC season. The most perimeter talent he has ever had to work with but they grow tired of listening to what he has to say season after season. A lot of print about how many games he has won at ISU but always a failure to report how many he has lost. Will always be a .500 coach; hope it is elsewhere soon.

That has been the problem for several years. He had a sweetheart contract that added another year for each year he coached, and always maintained 4 more years out. However, prior to last season, the AD finally cancelled that constant roll-over clause in his contract, which means he now has 2 more years after this season. That would be a bit more affordable, but can Indiana State afford to pay him for 2 more years?

I actually think that with the MVC being weak this season, and with lineup they have, Indiana State will stay in competition for the league title, making it difficult to fire Lansing this season.
And if they did fire Lansing, would their top players Jordan Barnes, Tyreke Key, and others leave?

With a NET ranking of the 228th best team in the country, we are starting three guards, of which none of them are consistently good 3 point shooters. That is exactly why teams try to force us to shoot from outside.

When a coach is not successful (and be serious it is about wins & losses) an AD or the powers that be cannot allow themselves to be held hostage because a player or players "might leave". If a player does not want to remain with a new coach then let them move on. Lots more players out there. Even if the job pays less than most in the Valley it is still a pretty good living in Terre Haute Indiana. No need to apply for food stamps or only eat out at McDonald's. On a happier note ....... wonder how happy Wichita fans are now after forking over mucho $$$$ to Millionaire Marshall? He doesn't seem to be walking on water & the greatest thing to ever land at Wichita in their new league does he?

Wichita State lost again Thursday night to Memphis to start their conference 0-1. They are 7-6 on the season. Their only reliable scorer has been Markus McDuffie, a holdover from their days in the MVC, and their only 2 double digit scorers are seniors which may spell trouble after this season, too. Marshall seems to have lost his recruiting touch, He used to routinely land 4-star recruits, but every recruit he has landed since they left the MVC have been 2-star and 3-star recruits. Their heralded new point guard is only averaging 3 ppg and shooting 7% from three and has lost his starting job. And several of his better recruits have left the program or backed out of commitments. And as I noted elsewhere, they are no longer selling out every game. I wonder how long they can continue to pay Marshall almost double what all 10 MVC coaches earn combined?

Pregame article from Terre Haute Tribune Star-
                      https://www.tribstar.com/sports/loca...2da2a636c.html

Wow, what a great, informative pregame article complete with in-depth reporting, reports about the players' health and reaction to their last game and game plan fopr the Bradley game, and numerous quotes and information about their opponent. The Indiana State fans are very fortunate to have this kind of coverage.

Compare with the PJ Star pregame article. It includes only a list of starters and a few stats. Nothing that fans don't already know.-

Note this clip from the top article-
Barnes only played 14 minutes and didn't play after halftime at all as he fought off the effects of the flu. Barnes practiced on Friday and said he was feeling better. However, several other Sycamores did not practice as the bug makes its way through the team. No one is necessarily expected to miss today's game, but with illness, it's a moving target as far as availability is concerned.

Barnes will likely play today against the Braves, but maybe the flu could still be a factor for the Sycamores.

we catch a team that is playing poorly, shooting poorly and scores only 25 in the half on their own home floor...
unfortunately we turn the ball over a zillion times and are tentative on virtually every shot

Especially since my telecast went off at halftime. My screen says the broadcast you are watching is experiencing technical difficulties. Listening to Snell now.
