  • MVC Changes Tournament Tiebreaker Rules Again

Most long time MVC basketball fans know that head-to-head was always the #1 tiebreaker but ...as a secondary tiebreaker...

-from 1993-2010 the MVC used a point system as a tiebreaker to determine MVC Tourney seeds which awarded more points to teams that beat the top finishers
-then from 2011-2015 the tiebreaker was the teams' non-conference STRENGTH OF SCHEDULE
-then from 2016-2018 the tiebreaker has been RPI

-NOW, starting in 2019, the MVC will use the new NCAA metric, the NET as the 2nd tiebreaker
The Missouri Valley Conference will use N.E.T. ratings as part of its men's basketball tournament seeding tiebreaker for the first time in March 2019.
