I have a couple thoughts on the Flagrant 1 foul that was called on DLO
If you are interested in watching it - go to 2:37 remaining in the 2nd half on ESPN+
http://www.espn.com/watch/schedule/?...22&type=replay
As Childs is shooting a FT, SELa's #2 (Pape Diop) CLEARLY throws an elbow up under DLO's chin and is 99% responsible for the initiation of the contact.
DLO gets knocked backward and his right arm contacts Diop's left arm but does NOT appear to do anything that I can see which would constitute a flagrant foul!
-first - it is obvious that refs have been primed to look for this and video-review it often and call it.
-In this case it extended SELa's lead from 4 to 6 points and almost was THE deciding factor in who won the game.
-I contend that it was a terrible call and that these kinds of plays have been happening for decades, so what's up with only now refs searching for something to call?
Previously this was just basketball and a no call - OR was just the foul call on the guy throwing the elbow - as it should have been here.
-but Diop is a 40% FT shooter and yet when he was disqualified, the SELa coach inserted a kid who was a 68% FT shooter to take the FT's?
This whole scenario actually takes an aggressive - possibly flagrant act by the SELa guy and turns it into a huge advantage for them instead of an advantage for us.
