  • Bradley Offense

Coach...I agree 100% with you regarding BUs offense. For some reason, we do not bring the ball down the floor fast and seem to slow down. Passes are not quick or crisp and our players very often appear tentative and hesitant to know what to do with the ball.
At the beginning of the New Mex. game, we moved the ball well and our shots were released quickly. Passes were crisp and we shot 3 points super well. Then, for some reason, we slowed things down....We started making Jr. High School mistakes and our momentum was lost.
IMO this slow down offensively causes our guys to lose confidence in shots and things bog down against good defensive teams that are quick.

Yes wiz, that was my observation. It played right into the hands of the New Mexico's full court trapping defense. There were several turnovers, a 10-second violation, and a 30 second clock violation that were results of our trouble getting the ball upcourt. And although Bradley had only 15 turnovers in the game, not an extremely high number, it also caused our offense to rush shots and settle for some bad shots, as well as being out of rebounding position quite a bit and allowing an excessive number of offensive rebounds by UNM (13 offensive rebounds for the game/10 in the first half when they built their double-digit lead).
I believe Darrell Brown is skillful enough to dribble out of that kind of pressure, but he usually didn't try to do that. Instead, Bradley struggled to advance the ball using multiple backcourt passes.

I don't think we'll face another team the rest of the season with the number of tall, long athletic players capable of pressuring us like New Mexico did. So hopefully, this problem won't affect us again.
