    • As noted above, Northern Kentucky will hire Darrin Horn as their next head coach. He formerly was head coach at Western Kentucky and South Carolina, and since 2015 has been an assistant under Shaka Smart at Texas.

Kennesaw State - Al Skinner will step down - Amir Abdur-Rahim HIRED
Kennesaw State just named former Texas A&M, Georgia & Murray State assistant Amir Abdur-Rahim as their NEW head coach...
then a week later his name comes up in the FBI/NCAA scandal testimony as making a sleazy deal to funnel cash to a recruit-
...wonder if they will void his brand new contract...

Abdur Rahim has always had "a knack" for landing really top ranked recruits...hmmm...so now we kinda know how he does it...

several other formerly UN-named assistants also being identified as meeting with the agents to swing deals to take payoffs.......
BUT....they were unable to come to a mutually acceptible price or didn't agree on details...

Not sure where Mo will land. He'll be 65 y/o later this year. Maybe he should consider retirement.

University of Oklahoma head men’s basketball coach Lon Kruger announced on Thursday the addition of Jim Molinari as assistant coach. Molinari brings over three decades of college coaching experience to the Sooner bench, including 20 seasons as a head coach at the Division I level. • ISU just filled their open assistant coach spot that was vacated when Brendan Mullins left to go to SIU

They have hired Brian Jones, who was the HEAD COACH at North Dakota! This is a little odd for a guy to go from head coach of a midmajor to assistant at another midmajor. Not sure I know of another example. Both Jim Molinari (WIU) and Kevin McKenna (Indiana State) left head coaching jobs at midmajors to take assistant spots at POWER CONFERENCE schools where their salaries instantly went UP - but does anyone else know of a case where a guy makes such a downward move, like this? We know Paula Buscher did it on the women's side (BU to SIUE) but we all know it was because nobody wanted to work for who she worked for plus she knew she was going to get canned because she wasn't going to kiss a**.

Jones is originally from Rock Island IL, played college basketball at Northern Iowa, and has been head coach at UND for 13 seasons and is 190-217. He has gone 12-20 in 2017-18 in the Big Sky Conference and 12-18 this past year in 2018-19 in the Summit Conference.
He had gotten a 4-year contract extension in 2017 so he was signed until spring of 2021 (2 years left on his current deal), but was probably feeling the heat of having just 2 winning seasons since 2011-12 and only 5 winning seasons in his 13 years there.
His salary is $140K but the school has been having significant budget issues - https://www.westfargopioneer.com/spo...ract-extension

There may be more and it's possible the school was trying to buy him out - as they just did that to their volleyball coach and their women's basketball coach.

They don't have any kids from Illinois on the roster - but they have one that Bradley recruited out of Davenport & North Scott HS in Iowa, Marlon Stewart, who transferred there from Creighton. They do have six kids on their roster with foreign backgrounds.

              • 13-year North Dakota head coach Brian Jones has been named Associate Head Coach at ISU under Dan Muller. IMO, that is a step up from the head coaching position at a low-major, bottom swelling Summit League/Big Sky team like UND to an Associate Head Coach position at a consistently winning MVC team like ISU. He will probably make more money at ISU. He has been at North Dakota for 13 seasons, but was only earning $140,000 per year.
He was likely headed out the door in the next year or two at UND. And he can probably help Muller win a few more games. Muller can use all the help he can get next year.

                • so you think ISU pays their 1st year assistants more than $140K?
I don't know of any data to confirm that but I found this - that the average salary for men's assistants (across all sports) at ISU is under $60K

                  • He is Associate Head Coach. I am sure he is the highest paid staff member under Muller. He is not a 1st year assistant.

                    • In 2017 as an assistant coach, Brian Reese made a $112K. One would think that the associate head coach will make substantially more.

                          • I am hearing rumors that there might still be some possible turnover of Bradley's coaching staff. One of Bradley's assistants might be a candidate for an open position elsewhere.
Nobody wants to see changes when things are trending upward, but we certainly wish our guys good luck!

                              • Howard University, one of the only 2 remaining open head coaching jobs, appear to be filled today.
The job has been offered to Columbia assistant Kenny Blakeney, and he will reportedly accept.
The only remaining open job now is University of North Dakota.
