Does anyone know Barry Hinson's story this past year at SIU? Did Barry irreparably burn bridges in Carbondale ?

I don't think so - but a significant segment of the fan base grew impatient and wanted him out - but he kept winning, finishing in the top 2 or 3 and even won the MVC Coach of the Year in 2016! Hinson even finished a very close 3rd in Coach of the Year LAST YEAR!!!! - LINK

Plenty of fans still wanted to fire Barry last year but they were in the midst of lots of other serious turmoil & financial messes

Thank you Tornado.... They (the SIU fans and big donors) will be sorry. SIU fans were spoiled from 2001 through the Spring of 2007 - they tasted the spoils of consistently being in the NCAA tournament - With the exception of one year (2006 - finished 2nd) - SIU finished 1st. And then something happened during beloved Chris Lowrey's final 4 years and SIU has not been the same since. Since taking over, Barry was inching his SIU team back up the MVC ranks. They'll miss Barry and realize this next season and for seasons to come. I look forward to learn who replaces Barry Hinson.

Sydney Johnson of Princeton was not just mentioned as a candidate for the Bradley job in 2011, he was one of many candidates who were offered the job with what would have been a big raise over his salary at Princeton then. However, he turned down the offer and chose to stay at Princeton for some reason.
