Did anyone see the Bradley article on page 3 of the sports section today? Only reason I looked is because we get it at work..Pathetic. Illinois,Loyola and Ohio State make the front page and the Braves basically get the line on the game and a prediction by Reynolds.

Bradleyhoops last post was nice about Child’s and DLO pow awards. But nothing about this big road test and what a w will mean. Hopefully tomorrow is a different story after a HUGE W.

refs are hell bent to call everything they can even if they have to manufacture things...
3-second calls, technicals, wrong player in the lineup book, offensive fouls galore, and a foul on just about every 3-pt attempt...
but our guys are playing into it...

Not a good first half for Bradley. Way too many inexcusable mistakes. Bradley fouled a 3-point shooters 3 times. 2 technical fouls- One because someone from BU forgot to put Jayden Hodgson's name correctly in the official scorebook (I haven't seen that in many years), and one on Ja'Shon Henry during a dead ball long after the whistle blew. Plus there was a flagrant foul. In all, Bradley sent IUPUI to the FT line 18 times, and 16 of their 44 points were from FTs. Childs played only 9 minutes, and Bar played only 4 minutes because of fouls, and Childs has only 4 points and 1 rebound, and Bar has no points and no rebounds.
Thank goodness for Pittman (6 points & team-leading 5 rebounds) and Luuk van Bree (team leading 8 points) off the bench, or the score could be much worse.

If Bradley can avoid these dumb mistakes, they should be OK. Go Braves!

Good lord that was an ugly game. If this team plays like this, they’ll be lucky to finish .500 in the Valley. Bad basketball!!

Well, this didn't happen. Just an all-around horrible game by Bradley. They give up 23 points above their average.
Bradley continued to make more silly mistakes in the 2nd half, 28 personal fouls for the game (17 in the 2nd half), allowed 29 of 39 from the FT line, allowing IUPUI to sneak in for offensive rebounds and putbacks, another technical foul (3 for the game), allowing a staggering 36 points in the paint, and innumerable metal mistakes like a 5-second violation, a 3-second violation, and fouling 3-point shooters (3 times!). Bradley made IUPUI look like a top 10 team.

So IUPUI wins 85-73 and Bradley falls to 6-2

Not a good game at all. Foul trouble and sending them to free throw line is what lost this game. You just can't allow a team to shoot 39 FTs and expect to win. IUPUI was definitely flopping on a lot of those fouls and the refs were calling them.

I just couldn't believe some of the calls. Most of the time there was no or little contact around the basket and they were call and ones. There big guy traveled almost every time he made a post move.

Couple of Takeaways from last night

                      The Bad:

                      1. The Refs: Really Really Poor. I mean, its like Tornado said in earlier post, they are hellbent on calling every single borderline thing BU does. That's fine if its called tight both ways, but man, that Justice kid on there team probably had at 7 fouls that were not called, blatantly slapping people, falling into peoples legs, reaching, body checking when hes beat off the dribble, never gets whistled. Hes just one of those players, like reed Timmer, you cant breathe on him and they call a foul for him. Very Very Frustrating. Most nights you say, well the refs were bad, but it didn't cost us the game..this one, IDK, that was almost to the point you cant overcome it..not only by how many fouls mount up on your players, and how many free throws they shoot, but there is no flow, it changes how the guys play....just a real bad effort by the stripes tonight.

2, "Bradley Basketball"....the Next step for this team IMO, is to figure out what that is, and be able to impose OUR WILL, and OUR STYLE on our opponent both at home and away. At home is pretty easy, but It seems to me that we just kinda play however our opponent wants to on the road, we just go along for the ride, and sometimes we play well, sometimes we don't, We also Play to up or down to our opponent. We are too talented for that, and need to figure that out.

                      3. Zone Defense....I don't know what we are trying to do when we play zone. You play zone to when you cant guard penetration, cant guard the post, need to stop fouling, or the other team has poor shooters. Almost all of that gets worse when we play the zone...its unreal. We also treat all opposing offensive players as equals while we play zone, when they are not. What I mean is we don't care what player has the ball against us in the zone, we act like every one of them is Larry Bird, and fly at their shot attempts, pump fakes like its just the end of the world if they shoot. So, the result is either they make it, they now dribble right by us (exactly what you don't want to happen, why you are in zone in the first place), penetrate and get a foul on of our bigs on bad rotation (again, in a zone to prevent this), or put up a shot and get an offensive rebound because Koch bar just flew 6 feet out of bounds on a pump fake by their center on a corner three.

We MUST know who the shooters are and who isn't. Play the zone, rotate and close out hard on the 1 or 2 guys they had that can shoot, and dare the others who cant to shoot it over the defense and roll with the percentages. AND FOR GODSAKES DONT LEAVE YOUR FEET ON A 3 ATTEMPT, ESPECIALLY OUT OF THE ZONE, YOU ARE NEVER GONNA BLOCK IT. There was an out of bounds play last night where justice was in the corner, pittman and bar both looked at him, the ref waited for somebody to tie their shoe before handing the ball to the inbounder (about 5 seconds), I'm yelling at the TV, "is somebody gonna pay attention to justice?" (he had about 22 points at that point)....again pittman and bar look at him, never move, the inbounder literally almost hands the ball to him in the corner, we are in a zone...nobody within 10 feet of him...and bang, hits a 3...no play ran, no picks,, nobody fell down...I mean what are we doing?

                      The Good:

                      1. Luuk. If he can hit that midrange consistently like that...he will be a nightmare in the MVC...that's the best offensive game Ive seen from him. That stroke is so smooth, and at 6'9"...its either make or miss...not many ppl are gonna bother him getting it off. Ive been begging for 2 years now to get him down in the post more, little flash screens at the free throw line...something more than just bombing 3's....he can be real good in that role.

                      OK....Rant Over

This loss will negate the win over Penn State. We don't want to give the NCAA any reasons to point to when they don't include Bradley in the Big Dance
