Registration change for new signups

We have been overwhelmed by the increased number of spammers who sign up and try to post advertising or objectionable material. It has become too time consuming for the moderators to keep up with deleting these invaders and their posts. The security measures we have been using, like email verification or visual verification, seem to cause problems with the activation of the legitimate new signups.

For recent signups:
All those who have registered in the past several weeks and not been able sign-on have had their accounts activated and should now be able to sign on and post.

For new signups:
We are trying a new format for new signups. The new signups will require activation by the site administrator. We ask the patience of new people when registering. Your account will be activated quickly and you should be able to post when you return to the board.
We regret that we must take this step, but this should eliminate the spammers and give the moderators control of the board.

So remember your name and password. Your account will be activated shortly after you register, then you can begin posting.
