That stinks. He was a guy I thought would be a great fit at BU. I think ISU got a good one.
    Onward and Upward!

Daniel, as a Redbird fan, I am pumped about this verbal. Any other insight as to who ISU is heavily recruiting?

I thought he might be too highly rated a recruit for us to get, I didn't think he would be going to ISU. Oh well at least it's early in the recruiting season and we have a lot of time to get some great players for next year. Congratulations to ISU on the nice comit.

This is a bit of a steal for ISU, but here is what happened....

Up until just 3 months ago this kid was hearing from Kansas, Mississippi, Mississippi State, Oklahoma, Tennessee, and other big boys...

Then just as the AAU season was getting underway, Jeremy Robinson suffered a severe, potentially career-ending knee injury. (ACL tear)
This has been talked about on BradleyFans...

Robinson underwent surgery but will begin rehab soon and not play competetively at least until November, thus he didn't play any ball this summer...and the uncertainty of the future caused all the big offers to drop off.
Apparently even Bradley dropped off and the options narrowed for Robinson.

One of the premium recruiting sites states that the only schools left pursuing Jeremy Robinson were ISU and Wichita State, Dayton, UIC, Indiana State, and the Pantagraph also says
Iowa, Penn State, Iowa State, Wright State, and Tulane.

He probably picked the best one among those to get immediate playing time should he be able to adequately come back from his injury.

That's good. Maybe he'll play with a strong sense of loyalty and a chip on his shoulder should he ever face a team that backed off on his recruitment. I know Moser was recruiting him when he was still at ISU and I guess Jank and Co. followed through with him.

You are right though in the sense that an injury like that scared many teams off. I guess this is similar to the deal with LA Pomlee? Though his condition is much more serious than a torn ACL. Maybe ISU will reap the rewards of a guy that was expected to go to a BCS team.

He's supposed to be a talented kid so we shall see what happens provided he makes a full recovery. ACL is a pretty common procedure these days and while it does take 2 full years (usually) to get back to where you were before, I like the chances of a 17-18 year old kid being able to make it back. He would be about 18 months removed from the surgery by the time workouts begin in October of '08.
Dinma Odiakosa 6'8 255......The Nigerian Nightmare!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! 37 points and 27 boards in 2 wins over Bradley. "Will Egolf is 6'9 and he had 4 rebounds. That's not good enough and he's not good enough"....Dick Versace 2/9/10

Sounds alot like an Eric Roberson situation.

                      Agree 100%
Full and Near full recoveries from ACL surgery are rare, but some of these kids can motivate themselves and get it done.

Others who lose a step or some of the jumping ability simply compensate by getting stronger.
Sam Singh is coming back from such an injury, and a few years ago one of the best players in the east tore his ACL (Eric Roberson) and when everyone else backed off, Bradley got him.

It will be tough on Jeremy, he has a lot of work to do to get back in playing shape, but I suspect he fully understands why a lot of schools backed off, and he is thankful he still has the opportunity to play D-I ball.

ISU will need him right away, as the ONLY true post players who'll be there in 2008 are Sampay for one more year, and Dinma.
Between the two of them, they have 162 minutes of D-I experience and are completely untested.

When did BU drop off? I heard just a few days ago from a VERY reliable source that BU was looking good with Robinson.

I had heard from a couple months ago a slightly differing version, and as noted in the story this morning by
Dave Telep, interest was coming from Illinois State, Wichita State, Dayton, UIC and Indiana State, and Telep mentions no others.
