Jeremy Robinson commits to ISU

This is a bit of a steal for ISU, but here is what happened....
Up until just 3 months ago this kid was hearing from Kansas, Mississippi, Mississippi State, Oklahoma, Tennessee, and other big boys...
Then just as the AAU season was getting underway, Jeremy Robinson suffered a severe, potentially career-ending knee injury. (ACL tear)
This has been talked about on BradleyFans...
Robinson underwent surgery but will begin rehab soon and not play competetively at least until November, thus he didn't play any ball this summer...and the uncertainty of the future caused all the big offers to drop off.
Apparently even Bradley dropped off and the options narrowed for Robinson.
One of the premium recruiting sites states that the only schools left pursuing Jeremy Robinson were ISU and Wichita State, Dayton, UIC, Indiana State, and the Pantagraph also says
Iowa, Penn State, Iowa State, Wright State, and Tulane.
He probably picked the best one among those to get immediate playing time should he be able to adequately come back from his injury.

You are right though in the sense that an injury like that scared many teams off. I guess this is similar to the deal with LA Pomlee? Though his condition is much more serious than a torn ACL. Maybe ISU will reap the rewards of a guy that was expected to go to a BCS team.
He's supposed to be a talented kid so we shall see what happens provided he makes a full recovery. ACL is a pretty common procedure these days and while it does take 2 full years (usually) to get back to where you were before, I like the chances of a 17-18 year old kid being able to make it back. He would be about 18 months removed from the surgery by the time workouts begin in October of '08.Dinma Odiakosa 6'8 255......The Nigerian Nightmare!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! 37 points and 27 boards in 2 wins over Bradley. Agree 100%
Full and Near full recoveries from ACL surgery are rare, but some of these kids can motivate themselves and get it done.
Others who lose a step or some of the jumping ability simply compensate by getting stronger.
Sam Singh is coming back from such an injury, and a few years ago one of the best players in the east tore his ACL (Eric Roberson) and when everyone else backed off, Bradley got him.
It will be tough on Jeremy, he has a lot of work to do to get back in playing shape, but I suspect he fully understands why a lot of schools backed off, and he is thankful he still has the opportunity to play D-I ball.
ISU will need him right away, as the ONLY true post players who'll be there in 2008 are Sampay for one more year, and Dinma.
Between the two of them, they have 162 minutes of D-I experience and are completely untested.
