  • Bradley recruit-class of 2008- Ryne Smith, 6'3" SG

Finally some real Bradley news, instead of talk about radio stations and Illini fans.

A new name surface today that it is being reported that Jim Les has offered a scholarship to. Ryne Smith is a Class of 2008, 6'3", 170 pound shooting guard from Toledo Whitmer High School. He had been recruited by a handful of midmajor schools until this past month. In a couple AAU events this month he's been fantastic with deadly long range shooting and has now started to get interest from others, including Big Ten schools. Here is a link to a topic on the Recruiting board with a lot more information about Ryne Smith--

What kind of numbers did he put up last year?

He scored 17.0 points per game as a junior.

Seems just like Roth, perhaps this will put pressure on Roth to make a choice soon. Ill take either one of them but not both.
        Can we start winning soon?

Bradley is offering to Matt Roth, Kyle Kuric, and Ryne Smith.
These three kids are very similar players, and I suspect if any one them commit to BU, then the offers to the other two would go elsewhere.

I think if you added the "bodies" of Anthony Thompson and Ryne Smith together, you might get 1 whole person.
Do these guys ever eat, lift wieghts, or take supplements?

I was under the impression that Ryne Smith and Matt Roth had almost identical bodies.

              I've got Smith listed at 6-3, 170 and Roth at 6-3, 165.

Also....couldn't we put Stacy Waters in with this group of Smith, Roth, and Kuric?
???People say, ???Forget last year', but I want our guys to remember that one, because that will not happen again. We will be much better.??? Geno Ford, 9/22/12

Kuric is listed as 6'4 175 and size-wise, looks like he has a stronger body...

Matt has gotten stronger over last couple of years as well and I would imagine any of these guys would get more muscle working with Coach Wright if they sign....
???We all want Bradley to win. If our methods and visions for that are different, then so be it. Don't ever attempt to tell me I am not a fan!???

Yes, it sounds like Stacy Waters would also fit this category. don't know if Bradley has offered Waters, but I wouldn't be surprised if they did. He is rated higher than some of the shooting guards BU has offered.--

Ryne Smith is listed in a new scout.com article as one of the 10 Blow-up Players this summer.

"Ryne Smith, SG ???‚¬??? He stroked it at a good clip at the King James Shooting Stars Classic in April, but still didn???‚¬?„?t get many looks from coaches. That changed at the adidas It Takes 5ive Classic, as he reciprocated the performance and college coaches began taking note.

His best performance at the event was a 32-point outburst where he buried five trifectas and showed that he was capable of shooting on the move. His strong play continued at the Kentucky Hoopfest, and high-major coaches showed up to evaluate the rising senior.

Although we think he???‚¬?„?d be best fit at the mid-major level, there aren???‚¬?„?t many prospects (if any) that shoot the ball better than the Toledo (Ohio) Whitmer standout. (ED)
