Right now there are no signings for next season yet....only a verbal from Daniel West(who we hope follows thru with his verbal......see memphis) and the rest are up for grabs with an extra ride from ray smokie brown's departure giving the staff one more for next year!
Since we're still in I can only think he's seriuos about us. Honestly, it feels great to have a recruit like this interested in Bradley... but said it before, with the way he's carried himself in the media I really like him, and wish him very well no matter where he ends up...
That said, hehhe, GO BRAVES, I really really really hope he decides to come to BU.
I like this kid and think he is a straight shooter... And I think Mike Radigan's suggestion that it may be us or Marquette may be right on the mark...
I formed my opinion because Clemson and Georgia Tech while nice schools are just not special enough and are too far away. Of course North Carolina is special, but it is a johnnie-come-lately and playing time may be an issue. That leaves BU and Marquette. The two are similar schools within driving distance for friends and family. Milwaukee probably has more to offer than Peoria so it has a slight edge there. I???‚¬?„?m hoping that BU has a slight advantage in the style of ball and in our coaching staff. It???‚¬?„?s up to JL to sell that. Hopefully Bradley comes out on top. The kid seems to be a quality individual in addition to being a great player. He will have all the chances in the world at BU for his talent to take him to the next level.
Since we've come this far, I think we have a chance. Shumpert's been seen at a Bradley game previously, right? So, he's been to Peoria and seen a game and probably the school in some unofficial visit.
He was at a BU game late in the season (I can't remember which game, but it wasn't the UNI disaster). He had a cast on, so he was easy to spot. This injury gave him a chance to do some unofficial visits during the season that most juniors wouldn't be able to do. It looked like he was into the game and enjoying himself.
He could be the next Hersey Hawkins type player out of Chicago; he could be a star for sure at Bradley; the rest of the schools cannot say that.
I say we get Hersey to help JL close the deal.....how can he not be impressed by their success in the NBA and the respect they have for the University? If they can't sell him on BU, no one can!

On the other hand this could be an advantage for BU. Marquette isn't the only D1 program in Milwaukee. I'm also willing to bet there are more Wisconsin fans in Milwaukee than Marquette fans. And you will always play second fiddle to their beloved Green Bay Packers. Their seasons do overlap.
Apparently the Shumpert family has been harassed since the story came out that he had trimmed Illinois from his list. They have asked the Sun Times and Scout to remove the stories, and they have.
The story is still online, but there is no link to it on the main Suntimes pages--
According to an article that appeared in the Chicago Tribune, and which also has been removed, he is now saying that Illinois will remain an option and that he won't trim his list until some time in August--
Here is a links to a Marquette board (see 4th post) and the Illinois board where it is stated that the Shumperts asked to have the earlier articles removed. Also, note the surprise the fans of these schools have that Bradley is still one of Shumpert's options--

That is funny!
If he doesn't want to be harassed by Illini fans, he better keep them on the list even AFTER he verbals elsewhere.
Gee... I guess that the Illini fans gave this guy yet another
reason not to go to a big school!
Bradley 72 - Illini 68 Final
???It??™s awful hard,??™??™ said Illini freshman guard D.J. Richardson, the former Central High School guard who played prep school ball a few miles from here and fought back tears outside the locker room. ???It??™s a hometown thing. It??™s bragging rights.??™
Just curious what you guys think. How many stars would he lose and how far would he drop in the rankings if he actually signed with BU?? We've all seen how that works.
