Summer league normally starts around the second week of June. The in comming players will be playing. -
There is an announcement in the Who, What, & Where column on page 2 of the PJ Star sports section today.--
Hersey Hawkins Summer Basketball League begins its 24th season June 5 at the Riverplex in Peoria. Season runs through July 18. Anyone interested in coaching or sponsoring a team can call Jackie or Junior Watkins at (309) 674-0566. Players are selected by invitation only.
The teams and schedule won't be known for a couple more weeks.Comment

Hersey's Camp
Coach, I'm old but not that old. I had the pleasure of attending BU when Hersey played and graduated 20 years ago. How do they figure 24 years for this camp? Did it start before he graduated?
If so, no wonder he stuck around four years. He was making some pretty good coin on the side.

That is due to the fact that the league existed before Hersey under different names and then after Hersey came through BU and graduated, they renamed it the Hersey Hawkins league...???We all want Bradley to win. If our methods and visions for that are different, then so be it. Don't ever attempt to tell me I am not a fan!???Comment

That is correct. I think I remember it was the Coca Cola Summer League before Hersey's name became attached to it.Comment
