  • Today's PJ Star Front Page

Did anyone recognize the person in the picture on the very front page of today's
Peoria Journal Star? The front page picture and the one on page 5 both show doctors at
St. Francis working. The doctor depicted in Dr. Rick Harris.

This is the SAME Rick Harris that was recruited from Grand Rapids and played for Jim Molinari from 1992-1994.
He has since gone through medical school and is a fine Emergency Room Physician,
    living and working in Peoria.

Dr Harris left Bradley and finished his basketball career and earned his undergraduate degree at the University of St Francis in Joliet. At USF he played for Coach Pat Sullivan.

more like screwed over at CSF by the coach. Rick should have started on that team. In reality he rarely played. Coach picked his guys he had it in for and Rick was one of them. Rick was a cool guy. Glad to see him doing well.
Dinma Odiakosa 6'8 255......The Nigerian Nightmare!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! 37 points and 27 boards in 2 wins over Bradley. "Will Egolf is 6'9 and he had 4 rebounds. That's not good enough and he's not good enough"....Dick Versace 2/9/10

First, it's now USF. And I know for a fact that Coach Sullivan is very proud of Dr. Harris. Maybe his playing time wasn't that much, but it is a misstatement to say he was screwed over.

Good to see Dr. Harris doing well. I came to BU at the same time he did. After playing with him at Haussler, it was hard to understand how he had a basketball scholarship. I believe he was a social member at SAE before transferring.

What Sullivan feels about Rick the doctor is completely irrelevant to what transpired 11 years ago. I saw things firsthand as I worked with the program at CSF for the time Rick was there. I was there. Every day. Were you?

I saw how hard he practiced and how much of a team guy he was. Rick was well-liked by teammates also. Rick was one of the best players on that roster. Sullivan had 'his guys' and Rick wasn't one of them even though he was far better than the kid who received the larger share of minutes at his position. I would listen to him about the situation and try to offer encouragement to him. He was and probably still is a good guy. A nice guy. I always liked Rick.

I was there and i saw it for 2 years. I believe my opinion is coming from a base of knowledge of this situation that you simply don't have. Therefore when i say Rick was screwed over, it's not just some words I chose without knowing the situation. I saw it, as did many others. When he got minutes, he would produce and make an impact and then it was back to the bench. He knew he was better than the guys ahead of him, but he wasn't one to gripe to the Coach. People respected Rick for that.

It will always be CSF to me. It was when my dad went there, my brother and myself for a short time.

I'm a USF grad and stay in touch with Coach Sullivan. Coach sent me an e-mail some time ago about Dr Harris and how proud he was of him. As far as playing time, everyone has their own opinion of who is best and you are surely entitled to yours.

                Getting back to the subject...
I see and talk with Dr. Harris quite regularly, maybe a couple times a week.
He is really a great guy and still interested in Bradley basketball.
I told him about BradleyFans.com, and he said he'd check us out......
He still plays some ball in pickup games and leagues, but hasn't had a lot of recent contact with anyone at BU, and missed the Alumni Game a couple weeks ago as he had to work a conflicting shift.
