2007 Class - How do they rank?
We know that Rose of Simeon ranked as one of the best national prospects in 2007 but as a whole how did the IL Class of 2007 stack up vs the rest of the nation! If we beleive what we read, Bradley ended up with a very good recruiting year (top 40 or better consensus) but only snagged Maniscalco from Illinois! Did Bradley get the short end of the rescruiting stick in Illinois or was it a shallow class from which to draw?

That's a good question, but I have my beliefs.
I think it reflects that Bradley began recruiting on a FAR wider, national scale and filled their scholarships with kids from outside Illinois who are QUALITY RECRUITS, 3-STARS, and the kids in Illinois who BU was after either dragged their feet or were NOT at the caliber of the players we got.
For example, Bradley has three quality BIG MEN coming in, David Collins, Anthony Thompson, and Will Egolf.
Given Bradley had an immediate need to get some big guys, just who in the Illinois Class of 2007 could have possibly fit the bill?
Of the top 20 in Illinois, only 3 kids even come close-Fay, Cole, and Tisdale. Cole and Tisdale committed to Illinois way early and were never even candidates for BU and with Fay, I believe Bradley went right down to the wire anyway -- and stil ended up with 3 kid bigger than Fay. So they did as well in the state as I can expect.
Since BU is relatively well set with wing players, getting a PG was a priority. Guess what...I personally believe got the best available PG in the state. Rose was never a BU target for obvious reasons, so just who else would BU have gone for?
Nope, I think given what BU needed in the Class of 2007, they either got the best available in the state or they went outside the state to do even BETTER.
Look at the Class of 2008, as BU is still in on a large number of the top remaining player, Roth, Jackson, Shumpert, Robinson, Storm.
By the way...other than Julian Wright & John Scheyer (who of course BU had no shot at), can you name an Illinois kid who went out of state over the past few years who has excelled? Perhaps you can name a couple but there aren't many.....
You have DeAaron Williams, Justin Cerasoli, Jeremy Fears, Nate Minnoy, Bobby Frasor, Dodie Dunson, Sead Odzic, DeAndre Miranda, and several others.....who spurned the instate schools to go elsewhere, and just who got hurt?
Not the instate schools, as BU has had a great run over the past two years.
I think it's all those guys who leap for offers to go out of state, then they are miserable, unhappy, flunk out, or not good enough to earn playing time.
Memo to Ilinois kids-----stay instate, give a bit more note to the instate offers you are getting from the D-I schools in Illinois.
Maybe learn a lesson from all those players I named that you don't find the grass greener in Wisconsin, Seton Hall, Iowa State, etc.
