  • Hoopmasters lists Bradley with #32 best recruiting class

Just posted today, July 4, Van Coleman of Hoopmasters has his Final Top 40 recruiting classes for 2007.

It is a subscription article. Here is the link--

Bradley is #32. Here is what he says about Bradley--
    32. Bradley (7) Signees: Anthony Thompson 6-foot-10 C Houston, TX Klein Forest; Sam Maniscalco 6-foot-1 PG Chicago, IL St. Patrick's; Will Egoff 6-foot-9 C Juneau, AK Douglas; David Collins 7-foot-0 C Missouri State-West Plains CC, MO; Tyrone Cole-Scott 6-foot-0 CG Tyler CC, TX; Rashad Austin 6-foot-7 PF Northeastern CC, CO; Theron Wilson 6-foot-5 SG Seward County CC, KS. The Braves finished with a flurry of quality jucos in Collins, Cole-Scott, and Austin to go with early signee Thompson to put Braves in hunt for Mo Valley crown.

Bradley is the only MVC team in the Top 40. Illinois comes in at #36. The only other Big Ten teams on the list are Indiana [2], Purdue [7], Ohio State [8], and Michigan State [18]. So Bradley comes in ahead of 7 of the 11 Big Ten schools!

If you note, Coleman is not just rewarding volume, he is very astute to the quality of the recruits.
Schools like WIU that have 9 new, incoming players, UMass with 8, and Wichita, Creighton, Ball State (8 ), and New Mexico-
all have quantity, but are NOT awarded the quality that he assigns to the Bradley players, so they don't make the list at all or are rated below Bradley.

His comments on Illinois seem to hint that Cole & Tisdale add only to depth, and he doesn't think they'll give any immediate help or get much playing time.

By the way only 3 (or 4 if you count Cincy as a midmajor) midmajors are given any props on his list.

I agree, but I am a known Illini Flamer.
