  • Sam Maniscalco

I found an old picture of Sam Maniscalco's dad, Carl Maniscalco from 1979, and I am presently using it as my avatar.
Carl was actually pretty well built, although it can't be seen that well from the picture, but the thing I noted was the resemblance facially.

I wonder which one will end his career at BU with the most points?

Cisco was a little fire plug. Sounds like his kid is the same, but taller.

From all reports, Sammy should out score his old man pretty easily. Cisco was a scrapper in every sense of the word. Sammy sounds like he has the scrappiness with more talent and height; alot like jim Less and Tom Les

I believe Sam will be a great addition to Bradley. I think he is an awesome recruit. However in 07-08' is he not the 3rd. pt. guard behind Ruffin and Coles? Last year we played 3-4 guards at a time, but with the addition of several skilled 3-4- and 5's I do not think that will happen as frequently this upcoming year.
How much PT will Sam get next year?
      I say maybe 10 minutes a game!

Sam will get the PT. Right now Ruff and JC, and maybe Matt, are assured of PT, thats it. If Sam outplays and works harder than TCS he'll get more PT. JL loves hustle and hard work - Look at what it did for JJ - and thats what Sam's gonna give him. Sam has a good enough shot he can play if we're running 3 guards as well. I think guys like Sam have a way of showing their worth.

I too expect big things out of Sam and he couldn't have a better teacher as a freshman then Daniel. He has some things to work on, like a mid-range jumper, and even more strength, but by the time he leaves BU I think he'll be one of the greats.

ANYTHING from a freshman is a bonus IMO. Personally I don't like to project or guess what we will get. See Ray Brown.

Also I've always contended that if a freshman is contrbuting TOO much your team might not be too good (see ISU and O)

Give me Andrew Warren like freshman years where you get playing time but you aren't "needed" or expected to put up big numbers.

Learn from those players that SHOULD be better than you then come out strong as sophmores.

I have to agree. Kinda like JC who logged big minutes & was needed for scoring his freshman year . He seemed to run out of gas down the stretch & then had an awful soph campaign when they required less minutes out of him and he lost some of his confidence. It really lit a fire under him going into his Jr year though.
