For me, I would continue to contribute regularly if Hillary were made president... I don't agree with her politics, but the president of a university, for me at least, is far more about administrative skills than politics. I would welcome any solid administrator to the post, provided they wanted to grow the university and its reputation.

I don't see where the politics are as big of an issue as some make it.
First, nobody is going to vote for the guy, and once he is president of the university, it will be a non-political job.
In the last couple decades, I have only seen the BU president a few times, he is generally "behind the scenes", and most people who go to Carver Arena to see BU basketball don't even know who the president of BU is.

Clilnton cabinet member, Donna Shalala became the president of University of Miami, and there have been NO political issue whatsoever, and she has reportedly done a very fine job.

Lahood was also on WGN radio last Monday morning on the Spike Odell show discussing the possibility of becoming the next President of Bradley... There was really nothing new about the interview, but my personal opinion was that he was trying to reach out to the Chicago area alumni....

Tomorrow's PJ Star will have a story about the candidates for the job of President of BU, and who is going to be brought in to be interviewed.

Ray LaHood is NOT one of the candidates.

              OMG

Wonder if there is also gonna be some BU bashing in the PJ Star for that one.

He should not be as he is not qualified.

I don't think Mr. LaHood ever campaigned for the job, but I do think he would be qualified. The President of a University is not a political job, so anyone who wouldn't support the school because the new President wasn't a member of his party would be wrong.

That article was more about LaHood. Tornado suggested the PJStar was gonna mention the finalists/candidates who were gonna be interviewed.

                      Oh well.

If Coach Les could do both (coach and U Prez)... I think he has "demonstrated fundraising ability".

I am just curious.... Let's throw out the political affiliation entirely. While I do feel he has been a good congressman, how does that translate into the academic setting? What makes you feel "he (Congressman LaHood) would be qualified?" What activities, skills, and achievements lead you to feel he would be a successful university president?

Actually, I am surprised the PJS did not name or describe the candidates....they sure didn't hesitate when the identity of the new BU assistant coach (Brooks) was still speculative and not yet confirmed by BU.

I believe (from a source) that the writers DO have some knowledge of the identity of some of the candidates, but I also know their inquiries to BU to ask their identity have been denied.

The PJS article would have been more interesting had they
                            described some of the candidates.imo

As for Ray Lahood; Ray do you want a little cheese with your whine?

I don't know the nature of the PJstar's relationship with the search committee, but I do know that the committee has been keeping the list of candidates top secret. The reason is that many of these candidates hold prominent positions currently, and it's not fair to them to publicly announce their interest in the job. It's more out of respect for their privacy than anything.

What I do know is that the first round of interviews will take place this week, and from there they should whittle down a short list of only a few candidates. Whether or not they decide to publicize that list, I don't know; but I would suspect (due to precedence) that they won't.

BUFirsty, Ray LaHood is no dummy when it comes to education or fund raising. I don't expect him to get the job, but I wouldn't be disappointed if he did. Wouldn't hurt to have a local on the job either. I'll back whoever they choose.
