  • Illinois walkon Jeremiah Wise will transfer

He has already sat out a year, so I think he's eligible to play right away. Anyone need a 6'3 guard with 2 years eligibility?

If he transfers again, he can only play immediately if he goes to D-II.

Anyone heard more about the status of Jamar Smith? I thought all that was left was for Coach Weber to talk to the president and chancellor and decide his status. Why would it take this long? Both sides would benefit from a quick decision so if he's doismissed, he could move on somewhere else. But the longer they take, it sure looks to me like they are planning to sweep everything under the rug, and welcome him back.

It is the exact same ploy they used with Richard McBride's drunk driving arrest. they put it off, put it off, and delayed until it fell off the news pages, then they quietly gave him a suspension that encompassed a couple exhibitions and a couple early pre-season games against patsies.

They need Jamar and they will quietly place him back on the team, and when the press inquires, Bruce Weber will claim it is entirely out of his hands as the Chancellors and the governing bodies have already ruled on it.
I predicted they would NEVER make any effort to look into the parties, who threw them, who all was there, who bought the liquor for all the underage players, and guess what....they never pursued any of that.
And they certainly weren't going to penalize anyone else except Jamar- who they had no choice in because he went to jail, but they'll do their best to shovel the whole thing under the carpet.

Right on the money with this T. We'll also never know at what point a coach's phone was called either. This is the kind of thing that makes me chuckle when Weber is painted as one of the cleaner guys in college hoops. He is just as dirty as anyone else, just isn't as smooth at rolling in the mud as others are.
