  • Anyone remember Jeff Rabey?

Jeff Rabey was a juco transfer who played for Bradley in 1999-2000 and 2000-2001 under Jim Molinari.

He played a brief stint in the CBA for the Grand Rapids Hoops in 2002 (he is from Ottawa Hills, Michigan).

He is in the news today because he is playing with the Grand Rapids Flight of the IBL--

The Grand Rapids Flight made news a couple months ago when they signed the world's tallest basketball player, 7'9", 387-pound Sun Ming Ming.
This article also mentions Jeff Rabey--

Was there a few guys who would paint Rabey on their bodies during his senior year? I believe one of the guys was the guy who is the Rod Stewart look alike.

Rabey was bad his junior year and very good as a senior, but that team had only like 7 guys who could play so MO couldnt substitute continually and change line ups. He played what he had and turned out to be a very good team and one Jerome Robinson injury in the MVC tourney from going to the NCAA's.

I don't think Jerome's injury kept us out of the NCAA's. He played the entire MVC Tournament, and quite well I might add. It didn't say much for his intestinal fortitude IMO that he sat out the NIT game though. His coach didn't even know that he wasn't going to play until he showed up at Carver, and Jerome said that if it was the NCAA, he would played. What a slap in the face to everyone - fans, coaches, and players alike. No wonder we got waxed at home.

The Rod Stewart guy is awesome. He's one of those little things that makes Peoria such a wierd, fun town.

Yes he played great in the two games leading to the Indiana State game, he played great the entire season. I could not find the stats from the game but Robinson was hurt and shot horribly. He missed nearly everything he shot in the second half. Indy State also shot a lot of free throws and made some big shots to beat us that night. But yes his injury didnt keep us out of the NCAA but it certainly didnt help.

And even with Robinson Detroit was going to wax us that night, they played great and were better then us. I think we got beat by over 20 points.

Rod Stewart was one of Abba's Army! I know b/c I was a founding member. Rabey's group was a total rip off of our group the year before.

Oh yea... the Rod Stewart guy IS awesome!

But surfing the Illinois river? I wouldn't even spit in the thing for fear of getting something (like spitting on an electric fence).
