  • Zach Andrews and the Sacramento Pro Am League

Zach Andrews is playing this summer in the SPDL-- the Sacramento Professional Developmental League.--

Zach is on a team named DMC and it is coached by Yuba College coach, Doug Cornelius. The team name DMC just happens to be the coach's initials.
DMC roster- Zach is #2, and there are several other current and past Yuba kids on the roster--

Looking over the rosters of the other teams, there are quite a few pro players from overseas and even a former teammate of Patrick O'Bryant from the Bakersfield Jam of the NBA D-League (Gerry McNamara).
Xavier Crawford is also playing, but he is on the roster of the #4 team, New Faze. I suspect they needed to spead the Yuba kids around. Note that a teammate of Xavier's on New Faze is Jamaal Tatum, formerly of SIU and hoping to get drafted in this year's NBA draft.

One other name I recognize is Zane Beekman. He is formerly of Lewistown, and played on a very good team there with Nathan Koster. Zane spent a couple years at ICC and is one of the few that went on to have a decent career at Cal State Sacramento. He has graduated, but he must still live out in the Sacramento area.

DMC is 0-2 so far. Here are the box scores--

June 4- DMC lost to Team Kaashif- 105-108
Zach did not play (maybe related to the recent death of his father).

June 5- New Faze beat Doc's/Pro Med 99-94.
Jamaal Tatum had 13 points, 8 rebounds, 7 assists, and 3 steals for New Faze.
Zane Beekman had 5 points and 10 rebounds for Doc's/Pro Med.

June 6- DMC lost to Doc's/Pro Med 116-90.
Zach Andrews played and scored 15 points and 10 rebounds.
Zane Beekman had 0 points, and 10 rebounds for Doc's/Pro Med.

June 7- Kaashif beat New Faze - 109-100--
Xavier Crawford did play for New Faze (9 points/6 rebounds). Jamaal Tatum did not play for New Faze.

What's the exposure like in this league? Are the games being attended by NBA or European scouts?

          According to their website--

Scouts, coaches and player management firms from all around the globe regularly scout the league for outstanding prospects. NBA stars participate in front of sell out crowds.

Sweet, good to hear that Zach is playing well. I really hope he can have a good basketball future.
