A pretty tough schedule except that Md Eastern Shore and Southeast Mo should have HORRIBLE RPI's. Md Eastern Shore had a 332 RPI (out of 336) with a 3-27 record. Ouch. (Florida Gulf Coast won't do anything to the RPI since they are D II)

However, I shouldn't pick on the two terrible games when we have so many tough ones.

I am surprised SIU Edwardsville is not on the schedule for at least and exhibition.

Is it just me, or do we have one of the toughest non-conference schedules in the country? Opening on the road at UIC is a trap waiting to happen with all the fanfare of the return of Jimmy Collins. Neither big home BCS games are on a weekend, which is very disappointing (I wonder if that was part of the contract), so lesser crowds are definitely a possibility.

The South Padre Tourney sets up well for us to make the title game, although Lickliter's teams always give us trouble.

The biggest trap/let down game will be just 4 days after we return from Texas, as we head to the house of horrors knows as the Gentile Center on Loyola-Chicago's campus. That's an upset waiting to happen.

The home SEMO game is interesting, as Michael Rembert returns to Carver. Hopefully we're not looking past SEMO to Michigan St for that game. After MSU, BU ends the non-conference with a brutal mid-major finish, with road games at Horizon champions Wright St and Butler, and finish at home with possible top 25 team VCU.

I am all about scheduling well in the non-conference, but I think this is about as hard as you can get. I remember Rob Dye and Eric Roberson's senior year, when BU was picked among the MVC favorites, and scheduled very, very tough that year. The team had some early troubles identifying roles, and with the brutal non-conference schedule they lost all confidence heading into conference play, resulting in the play-in game (and becoming the first MVC team to make it from the play-in game to the semifinals). I worry that with so many new faces, we may suffere a similar fate. Perhaps not a play-in round caliber fate, but maybe not reaching the level we think they can be it.

All that said, great job in getting some big names on the schedule. No one can question that BU is playing as good of teams as they can.

Florida Gulf Coast will be Div I next year, and therefore they will be among the Di schools that will get an RPI rating. By the end of the year, it should be 330+, too.

The SEMO game should be interesting. Their center should be senior Michael Rembert making his return to Carver Arena.

Actually, FGCU is joining Div. I for the the 2007-08 season. They'll be a part of the Atlantic Sun Conference.

The game versus Michigan State, should sell out no matter the day or time of day it is played, or atleast it better.

Very good strong schedule, we are playing a difficult mix of BCS and non BCS, media called mid majors.. with three of these on the road. This will be a seriously challenging schedule for the Braves.

Here is what Coach Les said about this 2007-08 Non-conference schedule--

Last year we ended the year with a 21 strength of schedule and this year???‚¬?„?s opponents will eclipse that mark.

That's kinda what I was thinking with the Michigan State game. I don't care what is going on WE ALL HAVE TO BE THERE! END OF STORY.

Just don't get caught napping against Quincy like SIU almost did last year.

Great schedule. Kudos to the staff. MSU should be a RED OUT imo and if it doesn't sell out

Play well and this could be a record year rivaling the Hawkins era as far as attendance.

Some tough road games as well.

The Juco's and newbies will need to grow up fast.

If we go 12-0 with that schedule, I would think we'd be ranked in about the top 15 nationally. Last time we were that high I was in 8th grade didn't miss a home game. 12-0 would be fantastic, but realistically, with all these new guys and possible chemistry issues early on, I would be very content if we could go 10-2 or 9-3.

Do you think 10-2 is realistic?

The FH is set for demolition in spring 2008. The women will play there this year, but I believe they're trying to load the early portion of their MVC schedule with home games so they can break out the wrecking ball ASAP.

Wow, what a schedule. 2 big ten teams again. 2 games in the Chicagoland area for BU's Chicago alums. Solid schedule overall. This will have to help anybody on the fence of buying a season ticket.

This schedule sets the table for a big year. Now all they have to do is get it done of the floor.
