The article mostly reports that Iowa was prepared to offer the job to Kevin Stallings, and the contract was for $1.5 million per year, $300,000 more than the contract that Todd Lickliter was offered. There were messages also received from agents for Tom Crean (Marquette), Gregg Marshall (Winthrop), and many more.
Here are more details of the Todd Lickliter contract with Iowa. It has a base salary of $650,000 plus another $550,000 in guaranteed income. The additional income includes public speaking, appearances, camps, television and radio programming, and a Nike apparel/shoe contract. Then there are annual athletics success bonuses that include a Big Ten regular-season title ($125,000), Big Ten Tournament title ($75,000), postseason NCAA participation ($25,000), Sweet 16 appearance ($50,000), Elite Eight appearance ($100,000), Final Four appearance ($250,000), and an NCAA championship ($400,000). At the conclusion of the fifth, sixth, and seventh seasons of the contract, an additional sum of $250,000 annually will be credited to a longevity account and be paid to Lickliter if he remains employed through the end of the seventh season. Also, if the team achieves an annual Academic Progress Rate of .930 or higher, an additional bonus of at least $25,000 and as much as $75,000 will be added to Lickliter's salary.
Plus Lickliter receives 12 game tickets to every home game, and 2 automobiles for him and his wife.
Pretty nice deal.--
