PEORIA, Ill. -- Former University of Evansville head coach Steve Merfeld is staying in the Missouri Valley Conference as a member of the Bradley University men's basketball staff, sixth-year Braves head coach Jim Les announced today.? Merfeld assumes the position created by the retirement of Bradley assistant Chuck Buescher.
???We all want Bradley to win. If our methods and visions for that are different, then so be it. Don't ever attempt to tell me I am not a fan!???
Didn't Merfeld always have productive big men? I seem to remember they were the best part of the EU offense. If BU can maintain the defensive schemes that CB helped establish and an inside presence to their already potent guard attack, this should pan out as a very good hire.
I'm always concerned when a former head coach becomes an asst........if egos CAN stay out of the way....this will be a very good hire! There might be an adjustment period but having that much D1 expertise on the Braves bench should pay off!
