But then Jay Mariotti is quite often the most inaccurate and ignorant sports reporter in not just Chicago, but quite possibly the entire USA.

Kobe on Da Bulls?

Its nice to see the Bryant remembers how much the Lakers organization stood by him when he put himself in the hotel situation in Colorado. I guess the use of the private jet and the flexiblity and support they gave him wasnt enough.
Anyway, the bottom of that article talks about Zach Randolph.. no thanks he does not fit into the culture of the Bulls, yes they need a low post scorer but he would not fit in with Chicago.
Bryant, yes he is an amazing talent, but is he worth morgaging the future of an organization over? He has been in the NBA for 11 years, yes he is only 28 but that is 11 years of wear and tear on his body. Is he worth Ben Gordon/ Luol Deng/Chris Duhon or a combination of the mentioned, draft pick in this and future draft picks?
If I am taking on a veteran player Bryant is not the player the Bulls should be taking on, he is not their answer, they need a low post presence and that to me is only one player Kevin Garnett. Yes Garnett is older but his body, game and attitude are more of what Chicago needs. And losing one or more of the above for Garnett seems a better option the trading for Bryant.

as far as Kobe is concerned, the bulls do need a go to guy like Kobe but i dont think the lakers are wanting to rebuild and get rid of bryant especially when the bulls don't really have any top guys that the lakers could market their team around to trade for kobe

The Bulls lead the NBA in attendance this past season, and have been in the top 3 for the last 4 years. They have the money to invest in a superstar like Kobe.
Kobe is signed for another 4 years at $20, $22, $23, $24 millions for those years, and consider the cost of mediocre talent is $5 - $10 million a year.
Here are the salaries for the Bulls from 2006-2007. Most of them are still controlled by the NBA salary structure for rookie contracts and will rise substantially in the next couple years.
In order for the Bulls to make a trade for Kobe, it would either have to include Ben Wallace, or they would have to sign a couple of their younger players to new deals and include them in the trade (sign-and-trade option used in NBA trades)--
Ben Wallace- $16,000,000
P.J. Brown- $8,500,000
Andres Nocioni- $3,950,000
Ben Gordon- $3,862,080
Tyrus Thomas- $3,260,760
Kirk Hinrich- $3,192,628
Chris Duhon- $3,024,000
Michael Sweetney- $2,696,956
Luol Deng- $2,614,440
Malik Allen- $1,803,600
Thabo Sefolosha- $1,679,280
Adrian Griffin- $1,475,000
Viktor Khryapa- $1,172,400
Andre Barrett- $744,551
Martynas Andriuskevicius- $664,209

Very well said Houston. The NBA needs to begin taking the stand of the NFL and get rid of these kind of guys

I am not a Bulls fan, but If I were them I would give up ANYBODY except Hinrich or Deng to get Kobe. If you give up Hinrich or Deng to get Kobe, the Bulls would be no better than the Lakers were this year. Those three together would be pretty tough.
The thing is, you probably can't put together an attractive enough package without Deng or Hinrich involved to pluck Kobe from the Lakers.DUBL R 1

After the way Deng was manhandled by Prince in the playoffs and his lack of ability to finish, I would not consider him untradeable. Wright from Kansas seems to have similar skills (though his shot is not nearly as developed), or Jeff Green would seem like players who could be drafted to replace Deng if he were traded.Return to Glory

I'm not saying those guys (Hinrich and Deng) are not untradable or can't be replaced, but what I'm saying is that the Bulls can't trade these guys for Kobe because it would deplete THIS team too much.
There are a lot of guys that could replace Deng or Hinrich just fine, but chances are the Bulls could not acquire Kobe AND replace Hinrich and or Deng. So I'm saying if you trade those guys for Kobe, then the Bulls would be like the Lakers this year, not enough support for Kobe.DUBL R 1

i think if we traded deng and kirk for kobe, the bulls would have a much better supporting cast than kobe did
ben wallace, ben gordon, noch, duhon, and tyrus thomas is a lot better cast than smush parker, kwame brown, jordan farmar, chris mihm, and brian cook
bynum and luke walton are OK but are probably never going to progress very much more

It would make much more sense to be able to trade other guys for Kobe, as he would be a natural fit with Hinrich at point, Kobe at the 2, Deng at the 3. Wallace at the 4 or 5, and maybe draft someone at 4 or 5 to go with Wallace.
Like I said this isn't going to happen because the Lakers are not gonna part with Kobe if Deng or Hinrich isn't involved, and even if you offered both, it still may not be enough to entice the Lakers.DUBL R 1

Here is an article suggesting that the Golden State warriors might trade Patrick O'Bryant to get Kobe
Probably not a very likely scenario.
"Possible trade: Stephen Jackson, Patrick O???‚¬?„?Bryant, Baron Davis
for Kobe and Radmanovic" http://www.sportingo.com/article/1001,3569
