  • BCS Wins Again: New 3-point line approved

I guess Maryland's whining is rewarded yet again.

An NCAA panel on Friday adopted a recommendation to move the men's 3-point line to 20 feet, 9 inches for the 2008-09 college basketball season.
    Onward and Upward!

But another rule "allowing officials to use courtside monitors to determine whether a flagrant foul has occurred" might have kept tOSU from advancing past Xavier in the 2nd Round this past NCAA Tourney.

I'll predict that this move to make 3-pointers more difficult will backfire against the big schools. The smaller schools will still have the shooters who will be able to make a high percentage of 3-pointers, but the BCS schools will struggle even more with the long range shots. They will be begging to reverse the change in a year or 2, or move it back even more.

Or eliminate the 3 all together, make short shorts manditory, narrow the lane and eliminate the goal tend.

That should help solve any narrowing of the BCS versus the Non BCS.

If a line moving 12" is the death nail of the mids, they don't really belong, do they?

This should have been done a long time ago as it should not be the same distance as it is for high school; the good shooters will not be effected as 12in. will not be that much of a difference and it remains to be seen as to whether this will help the bcs schools; I do not believe it will.

I highly doubt this will affect much. The thing that I hope is that it makes Matt Salley stop shooting his threes.
