Howard Porter

Is anyone old enough to remember Howard Porter?
He was a really great college player on Villanova and led his team to the NCAA Final Four in 1971.
They lost by 6 to UCLA in the Finals, but Porter was the MVP of the Final Four and a certain top pick in the draft, but it was revealed he had already signed a contract to play pro ball in the ABA, so he was declared ineligible, Villanova forfeited, and his trophy was taken away.

Here is a strange, developing story on Howard Porter.
He disappeared on Friday, but is now found, yet the police aren't revealing any details.

Howard Porter

Howard Porter was a great college talent. I am glad that Howard
is putting his life back together.

On an aside, the reason I left Minnapolis for Spokane in 1986
was that I was robbed at gunpoint at my Condo on Lake St
and Dean Pkwy. Minneapolis has more than it's share of mean
streets. I pray for the recovery of Howard Porter and I caution
our readers to be careful in the "Little Apple". I am off my soap

Final Replay

Tornado,
I don't know really what to say. HP's car was found in
the Industrial Station (I think) area of St Paul and then he
was subsequently found on the "Mean Streets" of Robbins-
dale which is 15 miles away. I hope that Mpls and Stp put
their full resources into finding and prosecuting these perps
to the fullest extent of the law.

My deepest sympathy goes out to Mrs. Porter and the
two children (now adults) that have so much to morn. I am
deeply touched and saddened by this senseless tragedy.

As another aside, My friend Bob was deeply hurt when
I left Mpls and moved to Spokane. Then I got a message
two years later from Bob, " Gaffman, I hated like hell when
you gave up and left the Twin Cities, but I need to tell you
what I saw in the St Paul Pioneer press. Some guy was
walking back to his Condo from the Calhoun Beach Club
that you used to belong to. They found him on Dean Pkwy
and when he didn't have any money, they kicked him to
death. I miss you like a brother but it was your time to go"
I don't like to share that kind of story with the Bravesfans,
but !PLEASE! everyone be careful in the little apple.

I lived in Burnsville for about 6 months with a friend who was originally from Brooklyn Center...

The 10ft poles driven into the ground in September (to landmark mailboxes for snowplows) weren't the only thing telling me to move.
