You know it's a slow day when the "On this date" posts start cropping up.
But here is one that I found totally unbelievable!
On May 18, 1945, the American League had games for the first time in FIVE days.
Why were all scheduled AL games for four consecutive days called off?
Answer...it had rained in every AL city that was playing for four days in a row.
also on this date:
May 18, 1980 - Mt. St. Helens erupted killing 57 people
May 18, 1946 - Reggie Jackson was born
May 18, 1960 - Yannick Noah was born (father of Joakim Noah)
