Okay...no offense to anyone on this thread. I respect your opinions greatly AND maybe you can help me clear this up. But Why are so many people putting Austin at the Center position with so many of the starting five predictions. Sure, he is a very talented player and weighs 240, but doesn't he lack the height and reach of a center? I just don't think he would give any 6' 10'' or 7' center much trouble. I don't know...just something to think about.
Not many 6'10 or 7' guys you have to worry about matching up against in the MVC though. More concerned with coleman and falker.
Ruffin, warren, crouch, austin, collins; warren is the best option for the 2 guard.
wasn't warren playing a forward role last year?
no doubt we lacked big men but he was a freshman and i think he will continue to get stronger and fit in well at the small forward spot.
Warren is by no means a forward(I guess in college ball he could count as a 3), he is a true 2 guard and to be honest he can handle the point pretty well too, but with DRuff and heir-apparent Sam Maniscalco I don't think he'll be playing much of it for BU. I also would be surprised to see Wilson get some serious PT and consideration for a starting spot, hes such a matchup problem, too big for guards to fast for forwards.
I still say I hope SamM gets some considerable minutes, I just think he's gonna turn out to be a HUGE get for BU. I think he has the potential to be one the best PG's the MVC's seen for quite a while, especially since he gets to be understudy to DRuff.
Then and now.
Big lineup changes, but not as big as some seem to think.
Note that ten of the players who'll be in uniform next fall are exactly who we expected to be there.
Five others who were expected will be gone and five that were unexpected will be new arrivals.
Here are the projected rosters that we were looking at one two different dates.
On Feb 15, 2007 we were expecting this roster for next fall:
Ruffin
Crouch
Salley
Warren
Singh
Maniscalco
Thompson
Egolf
Lavin
Phillips Jassey
Brown
Fears
Williams
Buycks
By May 15, 2007 we were expecting this roster for next fall:
Ruffin
Crouch
Salley
Warren
Singh
Maniscalco
Thompson
Egolf
Lavin
Phillips Cole-Scott
Collins
Austin
Wilson
Thornton

Thornton has to sit out a year for the transfer. Do we still try to find someone else?

Yeah, that's true...but of the 10 players in uniform we expected 2 are walk-ons....no disrespect to them but they never factored into anyone's plans as far as contributing during games...plus several players who are now not coming were expected to start or play significant minutes off the bench.
So yes, I think our deck got re-shuffled to a major degree. I think BU and Les were prepared and handled it the best we could. I still think we will be good next season. I hope I am right.
The starting spots (except Ruff) will be those guys that
run it and lift it this summer. @Wing81
You don't think JC's got one locked up?
Andy, I drink as much red kool-aid as anyone here but I
worry that Jeremy (bless him) has been a tad brittle.
It's mayhaps a reliability problem. It's a different team this
year with different angles since Crouch took the injury. I
would not be surprised if JC doesn't start some games. I
will be shocked if he doesn't finish most games. Just my
take on it all. Wing 1981.
FWIW, I took "Production Scheduling and Inventory
Control" which fit my schedule rather than Reliability class.
