This sounds like an excuse for him to go home as he knew what would happen if he did this again; we don"t need players that are selfish like him and Fears; I guess the surprizing thing about those 2 is they sat out a whole season only to waste their time and Bradleys ; we can do better.

I was very anxious and looking forward to seeing him play.
He had every attribute physically to be a great player.
All that there is left to say, is that rules are rules, and they must be followed.

In a separate vein.......had Ray been playing for Bruce Pearl, Bruce Weber, or the St. Louis Cardinals things might have been different, where they let you stay on the team despite repeated rules violations and substance abuse issues, but Jim Les is doing what I have argued that coaches NEED to do.
He is sticking with the letter of the law and doling out the penalties as prescribed.
Not much else to be said.

I assume that this was the rumor of a player leaving referred to in another message string a couple days ago?

With only five guards left, I think this pretty much assures we are not going to be seeing a lot of the four guard offense next year.

What an idiot! Good for Coach Les. The right decision for all the right reasons.

I disagree. We will be running similar sets to last year. Last year we had -

            Ruffin
            Crouch
            Franklin
            Tauai
            Adams
            Warren

With Salley playing the 4th perimeter spot when JC was hurt

            This year we'll have

            Ruffin
            Crouch
            Warren
            Cole-Scott
            Wilson
            Maniscalco

With Salley and probably Egolf being able to give minutes at the 4th perimeter spot

I wouldn't expect much of a change in our offense. We're still going to shoot a ton of 3's, and we're still going to play with 3 and 4 guards most of the time. We're just deeper inside now. Depth at the guard spot wasn't an issue last year, and barring injury it won't be this year. We now have the necessary added depth inside that we were lacking last year. Everyone thought we were short on depth and talent last year, and we all know the results. We're deeper and more talented this year IMO. I still have high expectations for this group, and I am sure our coach does too.

Does anyone know if Ryan Thorton is still coming to BU and planning to walk-on?

                I haven't heard otherwise.

I have heard he is considering BU and a couple other options and will decide soon.

I'm getting tired of hearing what great guys these kids are when they get in trouble. Just look at the Journal-Star after something happens to a kid in Peoria. Good going Jim, I'd rather be a 500 team than have RB on the team. He fooled us for 2 years and Bradley gave him every chance to be a member of a class program. What a waste. Goodbye and good riddance.

Geez! What a stupid thing for this kid to do. I just wonder what is going through his head as he's about to take a puff of the marajuana?!

I mean he'd been practicing with the team, working hard to apparently bulk up, and a lot of folks thought he would get significant playing time. I had been looking forward to see him play myself. What a waste...

trust me, this wasn't just one puff of marajuana and I am surprised he hasn't been kicked off earlier

The bigger picture is Ray OBVIOUSLY has an addiction. He needs some serious help.

This has "only" cost him an education at this point. BU basketball will survive the loss of a player that hardly saw the court in 3 years.

Down the road it could cost him his career or his life.

The people that love Ray better do something quickly.

Pot is not a physicaly addicting drug, perhaps mentally addictive but even that is not very well documented. He probably does need some help and I hope he gets is. However I really have no sympothy for him.
                                Can we start winning soon?
