Even as a BU fan, I have to concede that ISU is looking more and more like a 1st division team next year. This commit will only help in that regard.

IMO, the War on 74 is going to be very interesting next year.....not just for bragging rights, but for position in the conference standings!

IMO the chances of that being the case just got a lot better with this signing. I think it would have perhaps anyway with the experience that the 'Birds return, but now I'll be very upset if it doesn't happen.
Dinma Odiakosa 6'8 255......The Nigerian Nightmare!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! 37 points and 27 boards in 2 wins over Bradley. "Will Egolf is 6'9 and he had 4 rebounds. That's not good enough and he's not good enough"....Dick Versace 2/9/10

        Da Coach.......you've done it again.

Despite the claims of people on the other boards as to timeliness, you scooped everyone on this.

Your announcement at 10:50PM last night beat the PJS board by 28 minutes (their was at 11:18PM):

and your post beat Valleytalk by an hour and 27 minutes (their first hint of this was at 12:17AM):

and even BEAT THE REDBIRD BOARD by a full 22 minutes (note 4th post in this thread at 11:12PM):

My guess is that the other boards got their cue from reading it here, first!

Da Coach is Brandon Sampay.....that's how he knew before anyone else.

Good scoop. I went to bed before 10pm last night and this news was a great thing to read at 7am today. I will be excited to see RBF at lunch today to see what my brothers think of this signing.

Sampay did take a visit to UCONN, here is a story

I suspect Brandon knew if he went to UConn, he might not get the playing time as if he'd choose a mid-major, and that worked to ISU's advantage.
Sampay was being recruited by UConn as a backup in case their 7'3" center Hasheem Thabeet decided to stay i the NBA draft. But he just dropped out of the draft and decided to return to UConn for next year, so Uconn didn't offer Sampay.

Man... things are looking good down at ISU. If this keeps up, UIUC could wind up the 4th best in the state behind SIU, Bradley, and ISU.

Oh yes that would be phenominal

Also what I think is very cool is that there is a legit chance that all 3 Valley teams from the state of IL could finish in the top 4-5 next season. I think it would be great to get some state of illinois domination in our conference

While it is ISU, I like that the MVC continues to dominate recruiting in the JUCO ranks. This will help weather the losses of so many starters from the league's top teams this year, until the sophomores and freshmen are ready to become major contributors. The league may not have the drop-off some are predicting with so many 'ready-now' guys coming in.

Bradleybrave, I'm in complete agreement with you about the "ready now" guys keeping the Valley at an extremely high level.

And UIUC being #4 in the state....how sweet would that be?

                      Keep it rockin!

Thanks for playing along Bert. I mean that sincerely - I know where your heart lies.

                          Good luck to your Illini.
