  • New Bradley assistant coach- Alvin Brooks III

Now that the identity of the new Bradley assistant coach has been revealed in an article by Dave Reynolds. Here is more about him--

Alvin Brooks III, has been an assistant coach for the last 2 Junior College champions (Arkansas-Fort Smith in 2006, and Midland (TX) CC in 2007). He was an assistant under Jeremy Cox at Arkansas Fort-Smith when they won the NJCAA Div I national championship in 2006. Then Cox was hired as an assistant by Gillispie at Texas A&M. Alvin Brooks III then moved to Midland CC, in Midland, Texas, and worked under head coach Grant McCasland, where they won the 2007 NJCAA national championship.
    Here is his bio--

    From the bio--
Brooks III is a native of Houston, Texas, (James Taylor HS in Katy, TX), and is also a former Midland College basketball player having played for the Chaps from 1998-2000. Following his time at Midland College, Brooks transferred to Idaho State University in Pocatello, Idaho. There Brooks enjoyed a solid two-year playing career and was named to the Academic All-Conference team in 2002. He earned a Bachelors degree in Finance from ISU in 2002 and his Masters Degree in Athletic Administration in 2003.
Brooks began his coaching career on the staff of the University of Arkansas ???‚¬??? Fort Smith where he served under head coach Jeremy Cox. In his two seasons at UA-FS, Brooks helped guide the Lions to a combined 62-7 record including the 2006 NJCAA Men???‚¬?„?s National Basketball Championship.
Brooks???‚¬?„? father, Alvin Brooks, Jr. is currently on the staff of Texas A&M University in College Station, Texas. Brooks, III is also a close, personal friend of 2005 NBA All-Star Rashard Lewis of the Seattle Sonics.

Alvin Brooks III is reputed to be an extremely intelligent person, a very good coach, for his young age, and a great recruiter. He played point guard in college (see bio) and graduated with a degree in Finance in 2002, and a Masters Degree in Athletic Administration a year later from Idaho State. He made the Big Sky All Academic list in 2003 (one of only 13 men's basketball players in the Big Sky Conference)--

As I said in an earlier thread, this is a great hire. Those are some awfully good credentials for a guy who's presumably going to come in and be third in line. He has "future D-I head coach" written all over him.

I'm sure Coach Les picked a great guy to fill Lennox's spot on the staff, I hope he can have as positive a affect as Lennox had, and I have no doubt that'll be the case.

There has been no official announcement yet from Bradley, despite the revealing of the name of Alvin Brooks in Sunday's PJ Star. I expect an announcement soon.

Seems like everyone knows about this now.....what is BU waiting for?

I especially liked AB's comments about the family atmosphere at BU.

That's a nice story with interview of Brooks.
Wonder if the local paper tried to reach ABIII for an interview.
